Default RS shift rod

Hello,

Just bought part number 96442401908

Was sold as new but a couple things don't seem right.

Is the coupler in the back correct? Haven't been under the car to check but it looks more like an older 911 part.

Secondly, if it is correct, is the bushing replaceable? It's all ovaled out from use.

Thanks

The 993 RS had a universal joint type coupling, but I think that might be the right part for 964.

I was confused too because it was hard to find pictures and the PET seemed to show a universal type joint.

I did find a picture and it seems this is the right part. Still the bushing in the coupler is trashed. And it doesn't look like I can find it listed as a separate part....

I think that you can get replacement coupler bushes at Pelican, which are made of a stiffer nylon type material.

There are more problems. The coupler threads are stripped so I wouldn't be able to connect it to the transmission with the conical screw anyway.

Hi Brent,

Here's the correct RS Quick Shift part for a Carrera 2, the Carrera 4 is slightly different but both available from here:

http://www.type911shop.co.uk/shop/ar...6aid%3D5657%26

I bought mine just last week after seeing an earlier post and received it the next day. It's a genuine Porsche part and cost me £76 & shipping. Apologies for the quality of photos.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Paul

This isn't the part the OP is referring to.
OP, the standard bushes in the joint have some play in them even from new.
The difference between the 964 (and the wear in the bush you've found) and the superior 993 RS items can be seen in post 12 here :
