A piece of art !
Excuse my ignorance but could it not be made flatter, kind of to sit and fit about where the spare wheel was , I imagine it doesn't really matter for you as yours is a race car ....

Hi Kos
Yeh it could be made to what ever shape you want but the flatter and therefore larger it becomes the greater the surge issues! A taller slimmer tank reduces surge problems. Here's a shot of the overall frunk showing the remote filter position.

taller also helps with removing air from the frothy oil as it drains out of the internal swirl pot into the oil tank

Well said that man!! I have actually plumbed in the system different to standard for that purpose. The oil return goes through the thermostat/coolers before the oil filter to help this. But the tank has a section for oil aeration, is that the correct spelling?!

Loving that remote filter. I dislike the stock position in the engine bay. I find it impossible to change without dribbling. (the filter, not me)

Would you mind posting a linky to the hose type you're using for this setup?

Ha Ha
I would love to Rob but you know I'm PC inept!!!!
Its Earls Prolite 350 hose quite a lot lighter than Stainless steel braided and no issues with wear/abrasion etc.
I'm using the -12 for my oil cooler set up at present so when I remove everything to change it I'll take some pics, I changed it all when I fitted dual oil coolers.

Wow, you've just about created the ultimate (performance) 964 frunk!
Captain says the 964 tank is pretty light and cross bracing wouldn't add much, so all that's left is the GT3 power steering.

What's the tank size? -quarts/gallons

To clean up the design, it would be neat to have the oil tank sit beside the gas tank, with the tank being redesigned to be narrower and slightly more forward.

So true. That's really neat how you've moved the oil filter into the frunk.
With no oil filter and power steering units in the engine bay, and also no AC compressor and with an ITB/GT3 intake... now that would be a great 964 engine bay to look at!

I know you race that beast, so ultimately I hope this mod improves the handling.
Great work, and thanks for sharing!

Cheers
I already run with no power steering so no need for the pump!! I guess you could get a custom made tank to fit in there but on a standard car the brake master cylinder is there so no room.
The tank holds 10 litres when hot, and yes it'll be nice to clean up the engine bay a little more! The only issue is I'll still have the oil filler there!

Evan - what is the 3 cap canister just behind the oil filter. Is this the brake fluid tank for a modified pedal cluster. What pedal cluster did you use and how did you fit it??
Thks

Hi Gus
Yeh that's the brake fluid reservoir I run a tilton 600 series pedal box which I find to be one of the best mods I've done to the car!

Looks very interesting and sounds like a good move. I see the 2 brake master cylinders and adjustment - how did you marry in with ABS. Is there a post ref this conversion???

Hi Gus
Sorry for the late response! The car runs with no abs it was removed when fitting the pedal box, basically it was too intrusive and hampered my ability to brake late into corners!
My car weighs a little over 1000Kg so the lack of brake assist and abs has not been any issue. However in road trim it must be a consideration Re safety!!

All the best to All for Christmas and the New Year!
