Default Fabspeed StrutBrace Install

Finally getting around to fitting the Fabspeed brace which needed some modding. You can see how the size of the original hole is much larger than required for the bolts and in both my cars they were significantly out of place - maybe they're both bent. I drilled some new ones on the LHS and will fill the old ones and part of the elongated ones on the RHS with weld. The car had a fuel sender mount (looked like a local aftermarket mod) and once removed you can see the brace fits within a whisker of the sender.
Can I have a vote of confidence from someone with some technical know how or a reference book that the torque setting for the bolts is 26 ft lbs? Any other advice before I cross the rubicon would be welcomed.

Weld complete and a bit of a polish. Just need to file out the holes a bit. Still looking for help with torque setting for nuts?? Anyone?

Well it's in finally. Thanks mrmandmman but I have been reliably informed the torque figure is 23Nm or 17ftlb (ref workshop manual). Went in no sweat except for a slight conflict with a hose thingy as yet unidentified (ref picture). Not sure what it is but it may chafe where it is. Anyone else had this problem?
Carpet goes in on top, which is a bit of a shame as it looks pretty sweat me thinks (thank you Alex at Fabspeed).
I would recommend asking Alex to provide without the holes/slots fitted as it is an easy job with a cordless to drill your own and then you can get it positioned perfectly.

You don't need any stinking carpet in the frunk... go nude for that RS look and so you can see more of that gorgeous blue paint. BTW, a front passenger side floor mat fits perfectly over the spare tire/battery.

Did Fabspeed ever say why the bar didn't fit in your car originally?

No, I didn't ask. The FS website I think mentions some variations might occur and some filing might be required, though you can see from the photos it wasn't even close really. There wasn't much point in enquiring as sending it back from NZ would be a pain. I am really happy with the result tho.

I found that when I put the car up on the jack stands the bar fit fine. Otherwise it is in a loaded configuration, and some deflection is expected. Although from the looks of it yours had quite the difference, so I don't know if that would've helped.

I'm kinda surprised that the holes were so far off.

FWIW, when we fitted up our Perfect Power bars, they were millimetre exact.
