Default How do you determine if drop links are bad?

How do you determine if the front OE drop links are bad? Do you pull out on the stud looking for play? Should the ball rotate easy or should it be stiff? The links are currently off the car and the boots are good.

Thanks,
Jim

The studs are stiff but move smoothly, No play when you pull. If the boots are good you should be ok. If they are original, I would consider rebuilding them with new grease and boots. Originals are bound to have torn boots at some point. Mine were shot at 34k miles. Both the new and originals had the same stiffness at the studs.

Update: I ordered new RS drop links.

My original drop links are very "sloppy" when the stud is rotated.

I am assuming as they age the ball joint becomes worn.

The new RS drop links are stiff when the stud is rotated.

Will the new links improve the performance of the sway bar?

Thanks,
Jim
