Default Center gravity... Results

Ok just spent the day with Chris franklin getting the geo done on the 64 & I'm well happy as the 64 now drives 100% better like night and day, I had bump steer on the front from rs height -14 mm...oops & real heavy steering from to much camber on the front & missing washers on the new top mounts!! I found it real twitchy at high speed to so Chris drove it first to see what the car was doing and then spent the whole day sorting it all out..I wanted it set up for road not track as I'm prob only going to go one or to times a year so a fast road set up is what I went for..rs height +10 & even on the way home in the pissing rain and wind it felt supa stable & has transformed the car!!

Thank you Chris franklin

He's a few specs....make of it what you will.
Full monty inc corner balance.

Looks good - did you discuss RS rideheights on standard cars and rear suspension differences?

I did he could have gone a wee bit more on the camber and the like but it's near its limit so I went for a happy medium between rs & c2
& he said the rs has different rear arm adjusters that are left/right but c2's are the same for both sides if you go lower your in bump steer territory as I found out!!

Give him a buzz he's very easy to talk to if you want to get technical on the subject as I've limited understanding & the big words went straight over my head a bit....

They look a nice set of road settings to me.

Regarding the 1376.5 Kg on on the display: How much fuel in the tank and was there ballast in the driver's seat?

Yes it is! For comparison, Oldtimer's 964RS with half a tank and no driver was 1265 Kg on the scales in the scrutineering bay at Oulton Park.

When Chris did mine he noted 3/4 tank of fuel + 16kg boot ballast (Porsche din70020 specification (apparently)) bu no driver ballast.

Corners were 267kg, 285kg, 400kg and 418kg on a C2 (1370kg before you get the calculators out).
Since then I have put on much lighter wheels (wont impact the overall total much), rear seat backs taken out and Recaro seats put in which have taken a chunk of weight off (I could hardly lift the originals up the ladder to the loft (yes I am weak and unfit!).

For interest, 1350kg for a C2, 1420kg for C4, 1485kg for Turbo and 1320kg for RS America quoted in 'Technical data without the guesswork

They are so heavy ....for " sports cars "...
Porsche should have made the RS around 1000 kg, C2 1200 & C4 1250 and cup 800 kg .
I have the impression they are over designed....Specialy the gearbox and engine @
250 kg .......!?

I take your point but the offset against this is the quality of build. Almost everyone who gets in my car comments on how well put together it is especially now it's 21 years old and never been restored.

Doesn't detract from the fact that the pure sports versions (RS etc) might have been expected to have shed more weight compared to the standard versions (95%+ of which will never be used in real anger so a long life through good build quality is probably more important)

I can see where you're coming from but I doubt some of those weights would have been possible. The cup is as raw as it gets and is about 1100Kg IIRC? Surely to go sub 1000Kg you'd have to lose the shell and use a frame instead and then it's no longer a 911?

From the looks of that fourth print out image it looks like Chris has a 4 post shaker or something to test the dampers, is that right?
