I just took part in the Porsche winter driving camp here in Austria. A chance to try out the entire line of products; 911 C4/C2, Panamera GTS, Boxster and the obvious Cayenne as you would expect. Tons of seat time and instruction on the 4 different tracks. The real bonus was a 1:1, 5 minute taxi ride with Walter Röhrl at the wheel of the 991 C4. Videos never do the experience justice, but I think you will get the sense of grip or lack thereof.
Walter's 65 years hasn't slowed him down much...incredible really
(Sorry the go pro ran out of juice)
If you're lucky enough to have this event close by, I would highly recommend it.
Was a blast

Jealous!
Few people can drive like Walter, irrespective of age.

Quite envious! Ive seen other videos of him driving the quattro on automotor und sport tv and it just looks so calm from the outside, but watch his hands and you see a different story

I wasnt at all scared at all. I was stunned at the pace he made on a road that was a sheet of ice. You'd fall on your *** the moment you tried to stand or walk on it. And here he was talking to me like a taxi driver would chat to you anywhere in the world. The ditches dropped off 5-10 meters inspots too so the consequences if things went side ways were high...but like a dr. Doing His job he just drove like it was nothing..

I don't know much about snow driving (I nearly crashed on my driveway in the snow last week) but I occurred to me that the blips might be steering inputs applied with the right foot?

Yes indeed. You'll notice that he is probing on the straight sections - always feeling things out. In the corners, he knows exatcly how much throttle he wants to do whatever he needs to do.

The whole ride was one big controlled drift infact..
It still makes me laugh when I watch it...as its hard to believe how easy it is for him.
I will upload how he ended his ride too!

This reminds me of a quote from Walter in issue 93 of total 911, at the end of the interview:
"That is the reason the 911 is so fantastic, and if it's raining the 911 is so easy to handle"
Not the generally received wisdom, and certainly not my experience. I guess it gives something to aim for though.
