My 1991 C2 coupe with 107k miles. I rebuilt the engine this past spring and while doing I replaced some sticker, brackets, pulleys and etc.

And the buck I got this season.

Is your an original speed yellow from 1993 onwards, as in that case its the first one I know of. Great looking engine bay, makes me realize I have some work to do....

Is that a sock you've put around the oil filler neck ?

Thank you. Yes while the engine was out I replaced the engine bay insulation with an aftermarket one from Pelican.
Very observent! Yes I took some old black cotton sock, cut the calf part off and sliped it over the oil filler tube.

Is there a reason you put a black sock on the oil filler tube?? I don't understand.

it looks like his oil filler cap is not tight so he's using a piece of cloth/sock to tighten it up, no?

If you you remove the oil fill cap you will see an o-ring inside, so when tightened the o-ring seals against the top of the metel oil fill tube. Over 20 + years the top of the metal oil fill tube gets dinged or bent from mechanics not being more carefull. The sock soakes up any oil that may seep out from reidual pressure.

Mine leaks too but I'm going to cut off the damaged end and braze on the O.E. repair piece this winter while I have the engine out.

Interesting and a viable solution, short of a condom - sounds like a good idea and certainly looks better. How often do you have to change socks.

I change socks every other day, Oh you mean on my Porsche. Ive gotten in there, took my time and reshaped it with various hand tools and it's much better. Once a year.

I noticed there is a different box on the driver side of the engine vs. yours?

Your pic is from a 993, not a 964. 993 has a different intake.
