Argh! Death to all mice!
My 964 has been laid up for a month or so in my garage waiting for me to get motivated on some needed maintenance work. Was in there today, laying up some home-brew bottles to condition , when I felt the sad desire to look at my lovely car's interior. Hadn't stared at it for a while and after spending a small fortune on the re-trim I don't feel such an idiot for just wanting to look at it.
So, what do I see.....
$%&ing mice @£%$ing chewed my leather knee pad!!!!! And, more annoyingly they didn't even have the decency to use the chewed leather and foam for bedding! Just left it there! If I catch one alive I will make it eat the damn stuff till it pops!
Traps set in anger. Tempted to get the 12 bore out and camp for the night , but don't want to run the risk of A. blasting holes in the car and B. not sure what the farmer next door will think of gun shots in the night.
Argh! I have already done for 12 mice in our loft this winter. Oddly they were hanging about on top of my gun safe and and using it as a lavatory/urinal. Perhaps the latest attack on my beloved 964 is part of a counter attack? Got a horrible feeling that the mice will win

Get a cat and lay cat-safe traps. I hated cats until the one my kids brought home (against my direct instructions) came out of the kitchen with a rat last winter. The next week he brought in 3 mice and a rat from the shed I store my Cab in (we live along a creek in the North Shore mountains so rodents are a way of life). Now he gets to sleep on the bed and eat my bacon scraps (I think I'm giving my dog a complex). Anyway I repeat ... Get A Cat

Mice moved into my climate control system and it still smells a little funky even though I completely disassembled and cleaned it.
Now I have a cat. The cat likes to sleep on top of the 964 (on a pile of old car covers). No mice problems since...

Mice got in because of, I think, my own stupidity. I left the frunk ajar, but for the life of me I cannot remember why. I am sure there was an intelligent reason. Worried that they are living behind the dash somewhere, in the vents; like your problem, sail2fast. I have left the frunk open and set traps around the car. Hopefully if they are in there they will come out and get some death snacks.
We have three terriers, real country dogs, who kill anything that moves and unfortunately that includes cats. So, no cats for pets. The farm next door has a colony of feral cats that are always hunting around our garage, so I am hoping that they keep the mice population down. Maybe I was just unlucky and a rogue mouse did the damage. Unlikely, I know.
I am off to inspect the traps now. Here's hoping for rodent carnage.
Steve, the original thread for the re-trim has been revived. Southbound did all the work for me and were, of course, the best.

I put a few tins of mothballs under my car. This seems to keep rodents away. I also put a wire screen over my engine air intake. Don't want any mouse nests or acorns down there.

get two cats, I worked on my newly acquired SWB for 2 days before I saw this guy hiding behind the gas tank. The car is on its way to Holland now but I have traps, bait and electronic repellent all over my garage. Just in case.

Bloody hell! Hope it ain't one of them!
Peanut butter? Will have a try of that; have some in the cupboard. Was using bird seed to great effect in the loft battlefield. Happy to try all options right now.
