I love December track days (in North Carolina)
A group of my friends rented VIR, a twisty, rolling 3.27 mile circuit with two long straights and over 180 feet elevation change (a truly challenging course). For the weekend we slept, eat and drove at the track; we didn’t have to leave for everything. We divided up into groups and set a limit of six cars on the track for each 30 minute session.
Session after session, all day long until the track was closed. The simple life.
Enough of the details… like every other track day I’ve done, I find myself driving home post event grinning from ear to ear, totally amazed at how wonderful this car is. Even though I could only drive on the track on Sunday, I still managed over 3 hours of laps.
As the rain started to intensify, and as Sunday was coming to an end, I did my best Wolf Henzler impression and ended the day with a mega 1 hour and 15 minute session (that is a LONG time on the track for a rookie)! I learned so much in those laps, and after over an hour at speed my oil temp was barely @ 8:30. No brake, suspension, engine, electrical problems at all.
What an amazing car.
As a bonus, I got to send a lot of time with the Cup car below. A serious bit of kit, and the “dream” drive for any 911 owner. I also experienced my first 991 ride-along; it’s an amazingly smooth car. PDK shifts really are seamless. Too boring…I’d rather have Kai’s car!
We were promptly kicked out at 4:30. Chevrolet had the track next, they were there to test the new Corvette!
As usual, when I wasn’t driving, I was wandering around taking pictures…

As if driving wasn’t enough, we went karting too!
We staged this “BLUE” flag situation at Oak Tree…inside joke.

On my steering wheel too. Plus a couple of small blue arrows (for when other people are driving) to know when to shift, until the car is warmed up.
I need all the help I can get.

Way fun and great pics!
Don't you just love tracking until you just can't anymore - it seems lessons learned total a greater sum than time spent (as opposed to a simple 4 session DE).

Thought about you Kai...Clauida would have been all over that Cup car.
After 1:15 I'm glad the flag came out...I had to pee so bad!
