Default Dimwit question re front struts

Will removing a front strut from the upright to refurbish it adversely affect the geometry enough to necessitate realignment?

Cheers,

Generally. The camber adjustment is at the joint between the upright and the knuckle, though if you were crafty and marked it well before removal you might be able to get back to where you were. If it's been a while since you had the geo done I'd budget for it anyway; makes a big difference.

Thanks Feral. I do plan to get the geo done but was hoping to delay it until I replace all the bushes.
Wonder if I'd be better leaving the strut bolted to the upright but separating them both from the wishbone and steering arm? (It's a "2" btw so no surplus driveshafts complicating it further.)

Hey, those aren't surplus!

I did mine all at once- struts, bushes, etc... What you're proposing could be made to work for sure.

Oops! Was I accidentally rude to the extra weight carrying off-road fraternity there?

Seriously, thanks for the advice mate. Maybe I should just leave them to decay and spend the time I save earning enough money for some Bilsteins to replace them when I do the bushes. Slippery slope.

Cheers,
