Default Plastic Windows

Thinkin about makin sum plastic windows, mayb for the rear of my porka.
But allso for my bm track rat.

Ive had a look online, but was after sum advice.
Best way to shape /form them, ect;

Iam very lucky that i can get hold of perspex and lexan at cost, and after seeing how much a winda kit is to buy, ive gotta give it a go.

I was planning to remove the glass, cut the plastic to size and warm over the glass so as to shape/curve.
Buy sum vents, and job done?

I changed all of mine to lexan windows and they like normal power windows with power.

the only thing I didn't change yet is the front wind shield.

Biggest problem with polycarbonate windows is scratching isn't it? I believe you have to be super careful even when washing the car not to damage them.
There is an issue with the older cars of the rear screen imploding at speed so a lot of people that run polycarbonate windows add strengthening straps or braces to hold it in place. I can't see any reason why this would be any different with a 964.
There are good weight savings to be made but it is a compromise, maybe in a track car but in a road car it may or may not be a step too far. Probably also worth making your insurance company aware.

I did wonder what the windows are in Magnus Walker silver's porsche which has a slotted / vented rear side windows. They look real nice, would love some of them.

I got mine from plastic4performance as well.
They offer scratch film in the windows. I have these on both of my 993&964.
No scratches after a couple of months so far.
The 964 rear screen can use the stock seal. The 993 has to be glued on the inside like the newer RS cars.

So far no issues

If i buy a 5mm formed rear window to fit it with the OEM seal. Is there any problem with top-speed?! Does the window flutter?

The last set I did was for a Escort and after cutting them out I left them over the original glass in a Bodyshop oven & that did the trick for me...

I have fitted a few sets for a customer on early long hood race cars & I'm sure he doesn't put extra tabs/bars to keep them in at speed but I will give him a ring tomorrow for you and confirm...
