Please help me pick a new Color for my 964

Good evening Rennlisters,
I have been contemplating a full car Vinyl wrap for quite some time. The paint finish on my car is fading in some area and some other the clean coat is peeling, most notably on the top side of the doors. I full re-spray is quite expensive ($6-7 grand on the low side). I am still autocrossing the car every year and until I find a replacement car to do so, I would rather not repaint the car quite yet in fear to have more rock chips and scratches.
A good and rather inexpensive alternative to a full body re spray is the vinyl wrap. I have narrowed down two main manufacturers; the well known 3M Scotchprint and the Avery vinyl wraps. I would rather stay with blue as my original color is Midnight blue metallic, as it is also my favorite color.
I have purchase several sample colors (small strip of vinyl) that I have apply to my car just to see what the result might be. But I am still undecided. I am still bouncing between sky blue and intense blue (very similar to Martinique blue).
Please fellow Rennlisters, help me decide which may look best on a 964 narrow body. I have posted photos of two cars which have the colors that I am still undecided. Please provide input as well as poll for what would look best.
P.S. Over the years, I have downloaded several pictures from this forum, so forgive me if I am posting a picture of your car without permission.

Option 1 = Sky Blue

Option 2 = Intense Blue

Thanks

Meissen Blau would be my choice if you like a little powdery :)

WOW Mexico Blue is amazing.

I am sort of limited with blue color, remember this is not a paint job, but rather a vinyl wrap. So the only color available with 3 M are the folowings:

I've always been curious about these films. I think it would be fun to try out. How opaque are they? (do the show the underlying colour). How long will the film last under normal fair weather conditions (including washes). How much does it cost to have it done?

you should wait until you hear the cost before you say 'it would be fun to try out'.

Mexico blue is fantastic. I wonder how close Sky blue would be to it?

I've always been partial to Minerva Blue

Quick update,... The film (from 3M) is roughly $450-$500 for my car size. The installation is another $900 from an Authorize dealer. There is nothing to this task. I will do this on my own, there is no sense in paying close to $1500 just for a temporary color. Again, this for me to hide some paint defect (clear coat peeling and fading) while a gather a bit more fund for a full quality paint job. The film are very opaque even a white vinyl on a blck car will look good. The vinyl are said to last 4-5 years and resistant to car wash machine.

I have the entire winter, and will most definately remove all the bumpers, rocker panels headlights, and replace all rubber seal while I'm in there. After last winter huge overall

I am now in need of more project,...:biggulp:

I am also a big fan of this color, but unfortunately not available in vinyl wrap.

Anyhow,.. I am not sure how it would look on a narrow body!!

is it really that inexpensive for the 3m vinyl...that is nothing if it is so. this will be fun to watch your progress on this one. i would go for the boldest color that you like.

swesna 11-13-2012 10:04 PM

actually i am still finding the price hard to believe...can you post up some details on where you would be able to buy this product? the reason it is hard for me to believe is a 3M clear bra cost more than this and that is to cover a much smaller area.

now i would be happy if it were...i would like to work with this a little on my car.

found this one...

i might get creative once the weather breaks...no doubt will be fun.
