Default Favorite Porsche Magazine

Hello all , my subscription to Excellence has expired and before I renew it I was wondering if the is something better out there that I should try.

Now I do live in the United States so I would like to find one that does not cost a fortune to get here.

thanks for your help

I may get strung up for saying this... but with the exception of the fantastic new video content (hey Frank), I think the quality of written content in Total 911 has gone down hill a bit since Phil Raby left the magazine???

I'm not really that fussed about picking up a copy these days. For example, the article they ran a few months back, comparing every model of 911 and featuring Tony's lovely 964, I think should have been more like the recent article in EVO, with more of a comparison of the drive of the cars. The EVO article was a more enjoyable read in my opinion. Instead it was a lot of info about the specs of the cars that us 911 nuts would probably already know...

I'll get my coat!

I probably should say I haven't bought a copy for a while and it may well have improved of late. I'll give it another go soon

I think that a lot of the mags if you have been buying them for some time do start to repeat themselves. Total 911 is probably my fav currently

What, you're only allowed one magazine subscription?

Definitely keep Excellence, it's the best overall magazine. Great photos, lots of unique stories about Porsche's history...
AND the best writing of all the Porsche magazines. I wish I saw more 964s in the mag... (of course we're going to say that here.)

Total 911 has lots of eye candy shots, but the writing is hit and miss.
911 Porsche World is all over the map. Some months good, some months very plain.
GT Purely Porsche used to look as good as Total 911, but has gone downhill.

Excellence is way ahead of any of the UK magazines from the issues Ive seen

Appears rather more grown up and in depth

Main issue with the UK mags is that they all just copy each others ideas and cover the same cars month in month out.

Thats before you talk about the lack of research and (pretty basic) factual errors in them of course

I'm curious to see the direction Excellence will be taking, now that Pete Stout has moved on to Panorama. I really enjoyed his work with Excellence.

Sorry, agree with some of the above...Last (recent) Total 911 I bought was puddle deep..

For completeness, dont forget Keith Seume's new baby Classic Porsche Magazine, although its torsion bar only, so the closest you'll get to a 964 in there is a backdate if youre lucky..

I used to get it in the sadly defunct Borders

Not sure where it is available from now though

$45.00 annual subscription to the UK (9 issues) so not expensive by our standards

I just transferred to the UK for my job and brought my Excellence Subscription over. I finally got my first issue here the other day. (Also transferred my PCA Panorama over here too until I go back).
Excellence keeps amazing me with the cars they find to do articles on. Just when you thought what could they possible find to keep things interesting, another great issue appears in the mail with some amazing cars.
