got an estimate from the body shop for what I'll call secondary work on the Porsche. I was looking at having the windshield replaced, the bonnet repainted, and then the shark fin rockers painted. There are minor stone chips just above the shark fins, so address those too. The total came to $2200.
I think that's a bit much, at least more than I wanted to spend now. I'll address the windshield soon, including the bubbling rust that's just starting to form.
so what have you got on tap?
also, not sure if you saw the picture, but the driver front side jack point is mashed, and there's a little pucker in the floor pan area right behind that jack point. Picture attached. Any suggestions on repair?

I dont have much going. My weekend starts at noon so going home and climb in the atic to see what caused 1/2 the power to go out in my family room. I have had a problem with squirells or rats eating my cable tv cable so hope they arent chewing the wiring also!
The breaker flips right off so its a short or bad breaker. At least i have plenty of room up there to move around and its only 80 outside now.
Did you hit a stump Geoff while off road? Looks like more than a sapling hit the jack point even tho the really arent very strong laterly.

Probably worth a call. The shop repairing your car can cut off your current bracket and weld on a replacement.

Have this afternoon off. My GF and I are heading into Boston for a tour of Fenway and dinner with her college daughter and new boyfriend. Saturday will be rechecking the cam timing on the engine before continuing the engine assembly. I also need to inspect the GF's Honda Civic. Lately, its begun to sound like a truck. I suspect it has a blown muffler or exhaust pipe.
Geoff - $2200 doesn't sound too bad for all of those "extras". I remember having my Honda Civic repaired for $1600 and that was for a dented hood, which I thought was excessive. Fortunately, it was covered by insurance.

all things relative, right? $2200 is a lot of money for me right now. I'll probably do the bonnet- $400 for that alone. Since the fenders will be clean, that makes the most sense.

I tried the experiment of painting the shark fins with black plasti-dip. (black car)... but they are different enough in finish that it shows. I love the idea of plasti-dip, as it's durable and peels off if you don't like it.
The bottom of my fins were halfway worn through from abrasion.
$2200 doesn't sound bad if you're handling the windshield rust bubble too. I did that on a recent repair though, and had to pitch in for a NEW Porsche windshield and gasket too... which greatly increased the cost. Rust bubbles are normally an indicator of much worse underneath... Think of it this way, it's still less than the Canon 5DIII.... :-)

less than the 5d3, but I really want the 5d3!!! the $2200 does include glass for the new windshield, so I'm sure it's not a terrible price. just higher than I was hoping, and my wife is less than thrilled with putting that into the car.

Hawk, I can't remember what color your car is but if it's a metallic and your getting the hood and cowl painted, you want the shop to paint/blend your fender tops if they are not doing that already or there's a good chance that the paint won't match (ask me how I know

2200 sound not too bad looking at what you're getting... but yes, it's not pocket change.
My weekend is Friday/Saturday. Yesterday fixed the ghost passenger alarm in my Wife's Saab 93, cleaned it and did some detailing. But only after a breakfast drive with the local Porsche Club - my turn to lead the drive.
Today it's the 964's turn. Spoiler and hinges lube, rubber seal treatment, interior leather clean/conditioning, exterior wash/wax cleaner/polish/wax/window cleaning. I'll be back in 10 hrs![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm home alone this weekend.
