Welcome Mikey,

Great present!!!

Peppa looks like a good honest car, good luck with your new toy.

I joined the club a couple of months back and I can honestly say although it can get expensive...every time I plant the pedal I just grin ear to ear!!!

Can't beat that air cooled growl!!

Yup black is gorgeous, but always dirty! Peppermint rocks. But then you'd have to think about possibly painting or not the inside of the boot and engine bay etc... £££

One of the reasons I stuck to black was the cost.

I'd keep the rear bumper standard but that's just me!

Sounds like the start of a great thread - subscribed.

PS. Great name - Peppa.

Mike, congrats on the purchase! Nice car, especially with the sunroof delete. Enjoy in good health!

Yes, those are Cup 2's.

Congrats Mike.

The car looks nice and I do like the black with the wheels. Will be very interested in watching how your project progresses.

Default and so it Begins

Thanks for the kind welcome guys.

Today I had an extended lunch and went to Design 911 to check out some seats.
http://www.design911.com/Track-Bucke...INE/prod12575/

they looked and felt great in Alcantara, and the price is good. Still gonna check out the Corbeau RRS next week. Could leave there without buying something so I bought some clear front indicators.

And so it begins...
£15,000.00
£ 71.98 - Clear front Indicators
--------------
£14,928.00

now that will be a way to help keep you to a budget...by tracking it on your build thread.

i might be too scared to do that...as i can see myself going crazy and over budget quickly.

Well the decision on the rebuild has been forced. The car died on the A2 this morning on the way to work. Bummer!! While doing 50 or so there was a distinct muffled thump from the rear and then the engine began to die. I carried on to the nearest layby and then pulled over. There was some rather horrible vibrations from the rear and the revs were all over the place. As soon as I pulled over the engine gave a final death rattle and stopped breathing. I call the breakdown service who were there in 20 mins or so, we then towed the car off the busy road and he then spent 30 mins taking apart the distributors and cleaning the rotor arms etc. The car spluttered into life but I decided that it was too risky to carry on. Got the AA to take the car to Jota Engineering. Paul phoned and has said that it's definitely internal. So as soon as he's clear the engines going to be rebuilt. In my head I am preparing myself for the worst and I suspect that expensive shiny internal bits are going to be needed.
Poor Peppa. She will,I promise, rise like a beautiful phoenix from the ashes with a strong beating heart. Car is already under the skin.

£14,928.00....soon to be alot less I feel.

Sorry to hear the bad news. Did your mechanic say what caused the failure? I'd be curious to hear.

Looks like a great project car.

Happy Birthday as well. I just turned 50 myself on 10/3. Wife bought me a new set of Ping G20 irons and Taylor Made woods.

No diagnosis yet. But timing chains, broken rods were mentioned. Paul said he won't know for sure until she's opened up. To tell the truth I knew a rebuild was required. Better to happen with just me in the car rather than me and the family. Already being positive in that if it's broke it's going to get replaced with something new or better. Was looking forward to going to the London 964 owners meet and was going to post my intent to attend today. Ah well... Time to think about my new guitar that I got for my birthday. Fabulous Honey sunburst Fender Telecaster. There's always reason to be thankful for you just have to look.
