Default New outer pulley doesn't fit?

ahh man it's been almost a month and i was waiting on one last bolt to put my alternator, cooling fan, and belts back together. I was stoked to get that one last bit in the mail and started to wrench.

I ordered two new outer pulleys, it looks like they are 993 parts and the new updated ones. I am putting everything together and it's obvious this won't work. I believe they do not sell the old 964 pulleys anymore. WTF? any thoughts here guys?

Can you post part #s for the pieces you ordered?

There's discussion here about alternator pulley woes, but not what you're experiencing.

part # is 993.106.268.01

I think i found the part that i need but is there a difference between the outer pulleys for a manual and an automoatic?

For the manual the part number is 96410626731 price $109.00 YIKES for a single pulley!

For the auto the part number is 96410626700 price $49.00

In PET it's hard to tell, but it looks like the lip in the middle is different.

The manual outer pulley is part number 96410626700.

The Tiptronic outer pulley is 9641062673.

That 993 part looks like it is designed to eliminate the two spacer sleeves on the outside of each alternator pulley half. You'd probably have to look at the 993 PET to confirm. Also, if they're not the same diameter, it may require use of a different size belt.
