gt-racing seems like the best option for either upgrading the look of a the 911T i'm considering or the 964 that I'm considering ... still on the fence. I think for the price ( the 911T is 5K cheaper ) I can upgrade all of the mechanicals on the 911T easier. I'll have the authentic interior that I just have to slightly update. Putting the additional 5K towards the mechanical mods might be a better use of the money. Still thinking.

Make sure you really define (for your own good) what is it that you like about a particular Porsche model, and what are your needs going in such a project.,...

I can tell you that the 964 has a much better suspension, and transmission than an older Carrera. Thinking of upgrading a long hood with bits and pieces of a newer Carrera wont even get close to the comfortable ride of a 964, even after spending several thousand in upgrades, same goes with a 915 transmission as compare to a newer G50.

Again just make sure you measure the pros and cons, and not just which one is more cost efective to convert.

I sold my old wide body carera (1986) to purchase a 964 because it wasn't suited for my needs and likings, but the car was definately the better looking of the two.

Good luck with your project
