Default signed by a legend: Walter Röhrl

During my weekly surf over to Ap-Car-Design, I noticed a story about a one of our own (Koka) meeting Walter Röhrl in the Nordschleife car park. I'm not sure if Walter was on hand, doing laps with clients or just happened to walk by?

I didn't want to "scoop" Thomas, so I sent him a message a couple days ago but haven't heard back yet...

Hey 911Jetta,

Did you paint your wheels, they look good.

Sorry for the hijack.

Cool! Speaking of which, I had my car signed by Porsche AG CEO Matthias Muller this weekend. The location is a little less conspicuous however...

And the car in question...

Okay, if we're playing 'Autograph Top Trumps' I'll have to join in...

My RS was signed at the factory in Stuttgart by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche.

[ Apologies to anyone who's already seen the photos. I'm very proud to own the car. ]

if we're playing 'Autograph Top Trumps'....you win by a mile (or 1.2 KM).

You also win also for being the original owner of a 964 RS.

How do you protect signatures like this...clear coat over them???

It was clear coated (just the engine lid) after Butzi signed it. The car usually runs with a plain white magnetic oval over the signature to stop what little UV we get in England from fading it to nothing.

It's faded a little in 20 years, but still nice and clear.

BTW that's not me in the pic. That's the original German owner who I believe was an engineer with links to the factory.

Pretty amazing! I guess you won't be selling this car in your lifetime? I know I wouldn't!

I'm glad to see you are protecting it so well; I would do the same.

I've seen Hans Peter Porsche and Wolfgang Porsche climb into trunks to sign the underside of hoods.

Rich, you must have still been in shorts when that was signed.

I have uh... "marks" on my car left over from a few waitresses at Hooters... does that count?
