Depends on what you consider too loud ... I run cat bypass and g-pipe myself, and its not bad at all ... run the two combined with a primary bypass, and you are looking at solid high db's ...

you can see some video's at fabspeed.com to get an idea at what to expect.

No problem at all with a bypass and g pipe

As long as you retain one of the factory silencers running a bypass with either a g pipe or cup pipe is perfectly fine for daily driving, and neither are particularly loud in my experience

It wouldn't louder than a Harley Davidson with a screaming eagle exhaust

Ha, too loud. I remember Greg turning up to a meet with no silencers what ever, straight through, you could hear him a couple of miles a way

I'm going to be doing a cat bypass and G-pipe very soon. Temporarily I have both mufflers out, and its hella loud. At first its kind of fun, like a young boyish thing, but after you spend an hour on the highway at 70mph, your ears start to hurt a bit.

I've read somewhere that decat + g pipe or cup pipe results in a (slight?) power loss. What is the general thought on this?

The factory 964 Carrera Cup cars ran the primary muffler bypass pipe with the secondary muffler....

If I'm not mistaken, on other forum threads I have read that cup pipe allows for more top end power, g pipe allows for more low and mid. But if both bypasses on its a bit loss down low, but cup cars don't have to worry about power down low.

A cat bypass helps "everywhere" in the range. So for us daily drivers I would suppose a cat bypass and g pipe "should be" best for everyday performance. The thread that mentioned this also had dyno graphs confirming this.

There are plenty of threads here that discuss all the bypass combinations.

The view is that in order for any bypasses to work as a HP gain a remap/ chip would prove preferable.

The best HP gains are achieved with a Cat-Bypass, long neck G-Pipe and a chip/remap. Be aware that in the UK it is an MOT failure to run without a cat on cars 1993 onwards.

Combining a cat-bypass and G-pipe sounds awesome a little quieter than a cup pipe and G-pipe combo:

Just cup pipe:
/ttcsttcsttcs#p/u/12/yYnS5ieEuSk
Note that a long neck G-pipe ( which uses the mounting point ) is also slightly deeper than a standard G-pipe and retains similar to factory airflow.

But if you want the world to know your coming combine cat-by, cup pipe and G-pipe

Yes, they ran a cup pipe/ primary silencer bypass. However If you ran with a cat bypass and cup pipe you are likely to crack the final silencer - which many here have found. This can be simply repaired with a plate welded on top.

Yes, you will

You will normally have no issues with cat bypass and Cup pipe or G pipe,

What chip would be good for cat bypass and g-pipe? Wong chip? Or what other options are there.
