Glad things are coming along for you mate. IMHO all of these things that have come up all seem like normal considerations and changes during the course of a well built engine. It's gonna scream, can't wait.

Update

I've got a decision to make about cams.

I could go for an aggressive cam (less aggressive than the one that didn't work) the result would very likely be circa 380HP with most torque at high revs.
Or a less aggressive cam where torque would be colossal all through out the rev range. Pick up and go from 2,000 onwards but a lower HP around 350-370.

I'm leaning toward the higher torque - it'll be more useable/ aggressive coming out of bends and I won't have to rev the nuts off it.

I'm quite torn about it all!

I probably should search... but what the heck...

So the body/shell is finished and all you are waiting on is the engine? Or did you make mods or did anything else to the body while the engine is being worked? Apologies in advanced if you already covered this...

EDIT: Found the links to Part 2 and other mods...

If it was a dedicated track car, I would go with the higher HP cams, but my understanding is that you use the car more for street than track.
My vote is, go for the broader torque, more useable on the street, and for the none "PRO" (no offence) driver, more usable on track.
PS. Thanks for a very interesting and informative thread.

I'll put a vote in for lower down torque even for track use if you're only trading off around 5% of power. Unless you're going to change gear ratios I think this will help make it more user friendly on the track too, in my recent experience anyway.

I'd go for a cam that gives the most low down power that would still work well with the choice of valves, ports and itbs. By most standards I think this would be still counted as fairly "agressive".

Yeah, as it's a road car with occasional track use I'll vote for the better torque option where you will get a lot more benefit 90% of the time.

Torque, with original gearbox ....
Top end with close ratio..... To kep the RPM UP it in the power band
But it's a road/track
So I would vote torque ...
And you re right , comming out of bends .....

Mmmm....a quandary...ive got medium hot cams in mine, and certainly have the torque rather than top end. It all comes down to how you use your car and what gives you goose bumps.

I only use mine for the thrill factor and it that sense, if you're going tobe a bear, be a grisley! If i were able to build my own engine now i would certainly go as agressive as i could and to hell with the consequences! Driveability is already compromised, might as well enjoy it to the max!

Higher torque for me, 10-15hp missing at the top end will you notice the difference ? anything above 300 its going to feel like a rocket ship

Lol," be a grizzly" like it grraaarr!

A side note: you do eventually reach a point where you are traction limited such that you actually want to "fade the power in" rather than present it in a single lump. Done right even the most hairy car can be predictable and controllable (by a non Senna-like driver). Not sure you are at that point witha 380 hp atf C4 though.

Had my GTR mapped today: 320 at the hubs @6500 rpm, 1.2 bar boost from 3100 rpm at which point torque appears in a huge lump. Hilarious to drive, but ultimately as satisfying as a nice torquey 3.6 with 50 hp less at the top end but a seemless power delivery? hmm . . .
