Default Headlight reflective cone - replacement uk

Hi all

Both of my chrome cones in my headlights are tarnished.
Is it possible to get replacements or do I have to buy complete new headlamps?

If they are height adjustable (vaccum), then I don't think you can get separate cones; you have to buy the whole unit. Would be intersted in knowing where to get them re-plated as I have a foglight that has corroded (not impressed as only a few years old - Porsche quality! )

I bought a pair of bosch reflectors for reasonable money from a company in Germany on ebay sometime back.

(They used to be called fine-porsche, now it looks like they are fine-carparts - some co though almost certainly)

Ah yes, it is a different unit to allow you to fit the vacuum stuff vs the old school long screw adjustment.

As it goes mine has the dashboard switch for the headlight aim adjustment and all the pipework but neither of my lights turned out to have the vacuum mechanism fitted, obviously replaced on the cheap at some point in the last twenty years, to be honest its not a great loss and it turned out it makes life easier as its a bit cheaper to find replacements.

Just check they do plastic reflectors, the restorers i found would only do steel reflectors with brass/chrome plating.

Lee, if the company you found does do plastic reflectors, please post the details on this thread. Would like to contact them if they do. Thanks.

Cant believe you can buy the non adustable ones but they dont do the adjustable ones.

You have me Googling now when I should be working! How about:

http://www.vmclimited.co.uk/metalising.php - they call it metalising. Apparently vauum plating as opposed to silver plating...I think?!?!

and http://www.qppltd.co.uk/

or...

http://www.newfantachrome.com/leadge...FZARfAodOXzM_w

Spray on plating. Isn't that just paint?

Just took some pics to e-mail to them so that I can get a quote.

Didn't realise one of them was that bad.
