So how much of the old glue and foam needs to come out? I plan to install sound insulation (Damplifier Pro/Hushmat, closed cell foam, Mass Loaded Vinyl) and a new carpet set. Can I lay the Damplifier on this left over or should it come out?
I have done as much as I can with mechanical means and next step would be chemicals.

It took me about 8 hours to get to this stage. That includes dismantling the center console - not hard once you know where all the screws are - and taking the seats out. I used a wire wheel on a cordless drill, low rpm, to get some of the more stubborn foam out.
I had taken the seats out a few weeks ago so I had all new bolts. If you still have the original bolts, you can spend hours on the seats because you may have to drill some of the bolts out since you most likely will strip at least one - I stripped 3 and had to drill.
Yes, I took everything back to the metal because I want to lay down Damplifier Pro and that works best if glued directly to the metal.
More to come.
