Default speedometer problems

My car is a 91 C2. My speedometer needle goes fine to about 45 MPH and then stops. My spoiler is working fine and I'm not getting any warning lights. Any suggestions as to the problem?

So I cleaned the left front ABS sensor, pulled apart the frequency converter in the trunk and cleaned all of the contacts inside and took it for a drive. I brought my tomtom along to see how far off the MPH is from the speedometer. The tomtom is usually accurate within about 2 mph's from the speedometer in my Audi. In the 964 it looks as if that the speedometer is accurate up to about 40 MPH and then starts getting exponentially worse the faster I go.

Is that on the back of the speedo? Mine doesn't take it's signal from the transmission since it's a 91. At 50 on the gauge I'm at about 55 on my tomtom and at 60 on the gauge I'm at around 68 on the tomtom.

clean the contacts on the connection at the back of the speedo. A pencil eraser works good to do this.
