964 Targa Hoop - Black or anodised??
I have been looking at a few Targa of late - there are a couple that I have seen in magazines/forums and they seem to have a very nice anodised or brushed aluminum effect for the Targa Hoop.....whereas all of the ones Ive seen advertised seem to have a Black finish. We much prefer the former anodised finish.
Was that an option??.... or have owners re-finished them to this style...or indeed is a replacement cover (in the brushed aluminum finish) available from Porsche??
thanks!

Hi,
Check out psautoart (Paul Stephens) here http://www.psautoart.com/ps-cars/PS-Retro-Targa/427
These are a couple of 964's which have been retro'd and both have the brushed finish which I think looks great. If you speak to Sam I'm sure he will give you some advice as to how they achieved the finish. From what I remember the black coating does seem to wear and lift at the edges on some cars where the roof fits, which would indicate it will strip quite easily. The underneath looks like stainless steel, there was certainly no indication of rust.
You can buy kits to give stainless steel the brushed finish but I'm sure there will be a specialist around somewhere if you don't fancy doing it yourself.
Good luck,
Paul

To remove your targa bar shell you have to remove the oil tank, the finish on it can be removed with chemical stripper (unless its banned in the UK as most chemicals are ), or blasted, to achieve the brushed finish use a Scotch Brite pad..
