well i finally got it installed. I hope i never have to do that again off my back on a creeper.I wrecked first seal and second one was heading that way also until i stopped and took a quick break and then retried . It almost seems like the replacement seal was slightly to big.I say this cause being tapped in with a 24 mm socket nice and flat hada hard time going in as it started to peel the outer ribbed edge of seal as it was going in. Drained and refilled tranny with new oil as i wasn't sure if any brake clean had gotten in while cleaning the surface in preparation for new seaL. Drove car for 20 min and parked now tomorrow will check one last time that it isn't leaking anymore. I also did an oil change and put mobile1 15w-50 in to start off with nice and clean oil for spring. While i had oil drained i removed the oil line union at the case which was also leaking steady and replaced crush washer reinstalled and tightened everything up nice and snug and bob's your uncle no more leak. The only other leak i have right now will have to wait till winter which will be valve cover gaskets as the passenger side leaks a little.
Don't want to touch the car anymore driving season is here and i want it on the road to enjoy.

Default Good for you!

I hate replacing seals. They have to be tight to make the mechanical fit.. but sometimes it seems they are made a little too much. More simian arm gymnastics i suppose putting the seal in?... but smiles in the end!

Just a follow-up, how exactly did you end up pulling the "bellows" seal out? I got to it last night and it's buried pretty deep. Scratching my head at how to grab it.

Thanks!

Little bit of a thread resurrection but has anyone replaced the transverse differential lock seal. After taking my engine out I noticed the seal looked deformed. What part number is this? I can't seem to find it in the catalog.
