help and advice needed regarding vehicle title transfer in oklahoma
hi fellow Rennlisters,
I've found a nice red targa 4 in Oklahoma, ppi was good, needs some work, the mechanic that did the ppi seems very direct and honest,
my question is: how would you advise the transfer of funds and title owner changing should be done? are there any companies that offer such a service, I've searched but couldn't find any in oklahoma. and what pitfalls should i be aware of? any special laws or taxes in oklahoma? the car will hopefully be shipped directly to Dubai.
thanx in advance.

Where in OK - perhaps I could help personally? Maybe wire $$ to my lawyer and let me take care of the transaction for you...
Edit to add: I may have found it. Is it in OKC and is the seller a Louis?

The odd thing that I recall about OK is the title work needs to be done in front of a Notary Public and stamped.
Get a scanned copy of the title and she who is all on the title beware of AND AND/OR or OR.
If the title is in Mr and Ms Porsche Owner both need to sign. If it is AND OR or OR then just one needs to sign.
Get a bill of sale
Have all paperwork sent fedex or someway you can track it.
You can go through an escrow company for a fee if you are worried about it.
No taxes, taxes on cars is paid where you register the car.
I have purchase two cars out of OK to Denver and they were fine. If you got a helper like Kai that would be good.
And then you will have to get with your shipper to see how it has to be transported as far as fluids, air pressures things of that nature.
Is it going on a slow boat to china? It's proably going to have a flat battery when it gets there unless it's disconnected.

You might not need to do any paperwork in Oklahoma . Check with the people in Dubai , see what they will need . Will a signed US pink slip be good enough ? You might just turn in the OK plates ...
And then for shipping , when I have shipped cars in the past , the car had to be running so that the dock workers could drive it onto the ship . The one time I put my car in a container it didn't matter if the car was drivable or not . The shipping company might also have rules re ownership and paperwork , so do check with them also .

A bill of sale is just added protection, and all can be done via Fedex.
Dont send the title with the car.

I hate this term, but "I got your back" as best I can here.
EDIT TO ADD: The shop you PM'ed is trusted and well known. I'm even considering using them myself hould something pop up I can't handle here.
Good to go and good luck; I'd be more than glad to speak with them if it would help...or even drive down there to peek at something should like.
Need a trip to the city every now and then to remind myself how lucky I am to be here in Bugtussle!!!
