Default Spring plate corrosion; short term vs. long term fix.

My C4 is currently inop due to the LF brake pads not releasing. A quick teardown last night indicates that the spring pads are lifting and the pads can't slide cleanly. I'm anticipating a Major Teardown in the next month or two for full suspension rehab; I intended to do brake maintenance at the same time since it'll be all apart.

Consequently at this point I'd like the quick fix of filing down the pads where they contact the springplate.

My question: Is there any downside to doing this?

I've done this as a temp fix in the past.....still stopping, just make sure you allow sufficient clearance so the pads go in, but not so much that they can lean and jam!

+1 - As a temporary fix, filing the pad back plates works.

Thanks you guys. Any downside? Do the pads clonk on the first stop in reverse or the first stop going forward after braking in reverse?
