Great job Frank, it looks great. You're going to have a great time at Spa with it, so gutted I can't join you.

Bought it a couple of years back, paid a smidge less than the current price, so it pays for itself after you've avoided one decent sized bill from a specialist. It's cheap and chinese (there's no mechanical lock, so I'll often stick axle stands under the platforms if I'm under the car for any length of time and it has slightly ehem "agricultural" welding), but its sturdy, and the "european" ones (usually Italian) are twice the price. The "garage equipment" guy that moved it for me when I moved house gave it the nod: "can't fault it at that price, just don't expect to get service parts for it". Works for the 911 and the skyline with a little creativity - and even fitted in my old single garage.
Thanks Alex, that's now on my Xmas list......sorry to crash your thread Frank!

Frank -looks great. Paintshield is worth the investment. As i mentioned my paint is essentially unmarked 18mths after paint work completed. New technology sounds good. You will need a holiday after this weekend with the amt of stuff you have fit in in a few weeks (if you can afford one! )

AlexP - you must save a fortune in bills being able to so all that work yourself. Very jealous.

Frank, your calipers definately look too far out. I think the adaptors might be wrong.

You're right they are about 2/3mm too far out. The adapters are the correct part just not a great fit (all three adapters we had on hand had the same issue). I'm not sure Frank got a picture of the pad fit we managed after trimming down the backing plates on the pads so they sat lower in the caliper, the fit looked spot on in the end.

Cheers Rob, that is very, very kind - for the moment the weather is holding and I have a silly expensive cover I'm putting to good use! Thank you though - may come knocking when winter comes if it's still available!

PS. How are things? Porsche hunting?

Hi Frank,

This is a great thread and a superb car, well done! So much to comment on but why say more than, SHE'S GORGEOUS!

Your comments on the eye-level brake light are valid, I had that happen to me 20-odd years ago in my 3.2 when a nice young lady ran into me, got her phone number somewhere ha! I was thinking i may do that but I do like the classic look of the rear screen, so the jury is still out for me.

I have plans for my erm, "Black Betty", yes she's had the moniker for a long time but I feel she will use her "cousin Betty" as inspiration

So far I've had her front wings off and screen out for the usual rust repairs which to be fair weren't too bad. I replaced the windscreen & wing-scuttle seals, same on rear quarters. The front bumper has also been repainted after repairs to a couple of minor but annoying scuffs. Similarly the rear bumpers have been off and repainted new struts & trim fitted.

Oh, and new rear lights assemblies and new rear reflector.....Gulp!

I decided not to shell out for genuine Speedlines and refurb but go for new Veloce RS copies which I think are very good, if a little heavier, and fitted them with N2 rated Contis, fronts 6J x 18 225/40ZR18, rears 9.5J x 18 265/35ZR18 and subsequent geometry set-up. Some weight has been lost by deletion of secondary silencer and further weight reduction and will be achieved when I set to on the planned engine/flywheel/clutch mods (probably after the summer). Also planned are suspension and "Big Red" upgrades, your's look mint!

She's also had Dansk SS exhaust 1 to 2, long G Pipe and "modded" rear left under-quarter and lowered ride height.

The fan has been taken off and powder coated. New oil thermostat, pipes and clips which cured an annoying oil leak (964 sigh).

Interior-wise, she's stock apart from a new Porsche Classic SAT-Nav with Bluetooth and all the fringe benefits.

I'll do a little thread when I take some decent photos

Also, while I'm on Frank, the "Six Go To Spa" vid is now the benchmark!

Apologies in advance for my photos.

Cheers,
Paul
