Default Strange engine behaviour

After going on leave for about a week and not driving the car I fired her up again today. I have to say that I washed her right before covering her up (under a car cover) right before the trip. She was running fine before. Weather is slightly colder than what she is used to, but that was not a problem last week.

This is my daily driver.

Now there seems to be some hesitation just before 3k rpm. She also seems down on power (couldn't keep up with a Cayenne GTS from standstill - though not launching too hard - that just gently pulled away from me) and pops gently.

Any ideas?

She follows the regular factory maintenance schedule with the exception of more frequent oil changes.

I will see how she does on the drive home.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

First thing (and easy to do), check that the distributor drive belt hasn't broken.

On the drive back all seemed normal again... but I'll check the belt now right before heading back to the new place.

I'm shuttling between the fiancee's flat and our new place where I have to do some unpacking... it's a 20 minute drive, just enough to warm up the engine completely.

Secondary distributer drive belt is fine.

Still she feels a little down on power. Perhaps bad fuel.

I have been chasing a "down on power issue" for a while. First I cleaned the knock sensor contacts and put some diayletic grease on them. That solved my check engine light coming on at WOT and the power restored for a short time. Now i'm experiencing a hesitation when under load..very sporadic. Sometimes I think it only occurs at WOT other times it runs strong. WOT switch is operational, so i'm leaning towards the MAF switch contacts or tracks. dizzy is fine with mine as well. Are you getting any intermittant CELs?

Never any CEL... She sometimes stalls right after fire up when warm. But never a real problem, just drive off and all is fine.

The issue has gone away and I have no clue what caused it.
