Unless the rebuild comes with a decent warranty it makes no odds anyway, as there are rebuilds and there are rebuilds..

You are quite right in some respects as my last 964 had done 110k and IMO didn't need an immediate build especially bottom end though it left a small oil patch on the garage floor But very tiny. When I sold it to Paul Stephens the new owner had them do a rebuild before he bought it.,
The car I've just bought from PS is being rebuilt now with just 60k miles from new but then it leaked like a sieve.
Cost wise by the time I'm done I'd had spend what that guy wants then there's some other bits such as lighting, aircon overhaul and steering rack being replaced. I think with 964's some feel it's better to buy a cheap one at under 20 but to me it can be a false economy as by the time you get it up to standard you're in for lots more.
This said I appreciate the joy for some is doing either yourself or gradually as you own the car.
Me, I don't know one end of a spanner from the other so best I bend over and take what's coming :-)
On a serious note my thinking is I could of very easily spent in excess of 10k on my last car and had a car with double the mileage than the one I'm getting that has all I want with 60k ( allegedly :-0 )
I just wish George at PS would get it finished haha

Roly Baldwin at EPorsch has just posted a 964 on the Porsche 964 Club Facebook page. Just hit the market, he says he's also getting 2 more coming soon.

I'd be quick to enquire if looking!

This is a very good car that was owned by fellow Rennlister/ 911UK Andrew. Bare metal respray in Guards Red, extensive work by Parr and KWV3s.

Until there is a clean man coupe that hangs round the classifieds then we know prices have topped.

Why are people so obsessed with rebuilds? My car has nearly 90k, doesn't use any oil or leak and has superb oil pressure so why would you rebuild it??
I think we always have been...

When I bought my C2 9 year ago, I looked at a 964 Cab that had only 50k on the clock and had already had a rebuild due to oil leaks. At the time it seemed the 964 was "plagued" by the oil leak issue which put many people off the cars, hence 993 values were at least 10k more...

Mine's done 116K now, does drip a bit of oil and yes will get a rebuild at some time Like many cars here, they are quite old now, so if it hasn't had any major body/mechanical work it's going to need it soon. I have a few areas of rust that concern me more and will be dealt with first.......

Who would have thought a year ago that we would now consider a rusty, recorded C2 good value at £20k

I disagree, the seller has mentioned the fact it has recorded damage, all be it a one liner buried at the bottom of the ad

Wonder how many 964's have accident damage that was not recorded and there current owners haven't a clue...

I know when I was looking to purchase I came across at least one that I could tell had been in a knock and was being passed off as mint

Let's face it, these cars have been knocking around for 20 years or so. Apart from the cherished low number owner models, most have been "well" used. Have to expect a few hidden surprises, unknown to the current owner.

Used to own a Healey 3000 MK1, yes should have kept it! Brought mine back form the US after living there for a few years. I went to see some that were literally a box of pieces, difficult to judge the history on those - bet they are worth decent money now though
