Yes no doubt worth a call to Colin if interested for the SP. Reminds me of the car earlier in the thread that Hannah sold after her father passed away, which had 9m 3.8, slate grey, caged blah blah...

alexjc4 01-27-2013 05:55 AM

That's pretty good value for money I think. "If I knew then what I know now", I'd have bought something like that for that kind of money.

Talat 01-27-2013 06:08 AM

Wasn't this car up for sale a few months ago ? There was a thread about it on PH and most people had reservations about it due to the LHD --> RHD conversion - he obviously read the thread due to the last sentence in the advert :)

boxsey911 01-27-2013 07:40 AM

The car above belongs to Paul Clare. He's a Porsche nut and many will know his light blue 964 cup that he brought to Donington on our big day there last year (C2 CUP number plate). Some will pick fault with the car that he is selling because of the LHD to RHD conversion but Paul really knows his Pork and is a very fast driver (ex Porsche club champion). He tells me that this one is a very good car...I for one would take his word on it. :)

Monkfish 01-27-2013 07:41 AM

Very nearly bought it until I saw the LHD RHD conversion...shame.

It's a cracking car, a bit too track focused for me.

Brideyo 01-28-2013 10:06 AM

Whats the benefits of coverting from LHD-RHD?

fuch 01-28-2013 10:13 AM

You can get the ticket out of the car park machine when you go sainsburys......

That looks like a good car & if its been done well over to rhd then it would not bother me.

Brideyo 01-28-2013 10:14 AM

Wouldnt bother me either. Oh well

I called about this car tonight funnily enough and told it's Cat C registered not that really that should detract if the rest checks out with an inspection to what could be a great car. I love it but there are those that shudder at Cat C

alexjc4 01-28-2013 02:41 PM

I would be worried about the water damage especially if it was salt water.

I revived a friends car that got fully submerged in the Thames (literally all you could see was the roof six inches under the water). The water forced itself into everything. I gets into every possible crevice and a few you'd think were impossible. The car was basically ruined. every part of the wiring loom, interior, engine and transmission was beyond hope. We dried it out and he drove it for a few months before it collapsed and died. No doubt it would have rusted from the inside out if it had survived long enough.

Actually that's a very good point

Monkfish 01-28-2013 07:47 PM

Sorry for my ignorance but why would you convert a LHD to a RHD? Especially if it’s a track focused car where it wouldn’t matter so much anyway? Surely the 964 was conceived, designed and balanced for a LHD in the first place.

aircooledbug 01-29-2013 04:56 AM

It probably hasn't been submerge in the Thames though as it says it suffered some damage while at a garage in a storm - needs investigating as it might be a really nice car.

The simple answer is most of us wouldn't! It's difficult to understand why the guy had it done. Factors might be that a long time ago LHD 964s were much cheaper in the UK (not now though), he couldn't get on with it being LHD and that RHD are theoretically better balanced for clockwise circuits (which most in the UK are).

Paul, the current owner and seller, knows his onions and he would have only bought this car if he was sure it was done properly. All 911s are essentially LHD shells and therefore the RHD ones are conversions albeit they are done by the factory. If you want a car for mostly track work and to keep, this one is well worth looking at. I've seen it and it is stunning. If you're worried about future re-sale then it probably isn't the one for you.

Hope that helps. :)

It is - I'm interested to know who the buyer is!

Wonder how they'll use the car as it's so niche in its model/ mods combination....

The 964 I have now is my first Porsche/vw I have had in rhd and have always had left hand drive on my German stuff & if when I was looking I found a left hooker at the time that would have been my preference...funny as the wife also loves driving lhd cars more so than rhd...

Monkfish 01-29-2013 11:28 AM

No problem with LHD motors from my perspective especially if it’s an air cooled. Was looking a LHD VW split screen camper the other day.

Is there an insurance premium for LHD? Bet there is, Wa67ers! lol

Well judging by these two similar spec'd 964 that have been sold I would say it's a couple grand dearer.
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...l--sold/894275
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...d--sold/948813

Now whether the market is now showing that these kind of spec'd 964s are now worth 30K - time will tell.

I would hazard a guess that yes it's now worth that... there are no other RS'd 964s currently on the market to compare.
So the question is when the next RS'd 964 comes up will it be at 30K or will they undercut Strasse by a couple K...

Price? Gorgeous looking car, love the wheels and tech art ducts.

Would he be interested in parting with the front splitter??? I'd make a strong offer - if indeed it is a techart item...

The extensive service history he supplied me with (spreadsheet summary) simply says RS bumpers fitted by OPC Liverpool in 1994. AFAIK he's not interested in selling off any parts separately and is looking for something close to £18K for it.

Wonder what the 'story' is?

A chap has been to see this car and here is his assessment with the background story:

Stunning.

'The “story” is simple some 7 years ago the car was involved in an accident which resulted in an Insurance Total Loss Payout, this was due to the fact that at that time obviously the car was not worth nearly as much as it is today & the required repairs being done by a Porsche Bodyshop made it more economic for the owner to be paid out & the salvage sold to a repairer.
We have photo’s of the car being repaired & have inspected the car ourselves & can confirm that any repairs carried out have been to a very high standard & to look at the car there are no signs of it having had damage or indeed having been repaired. In fact the car looks quite simply stunning!

I have also spoken to the dealer who supplied it to the last owner & the Porsche Specialist who looked after it for the previous owner, both confirm that it was “ a really good car”

Cat C/D puts most people off but thinking about it is it any worse than say a rusty 964 that's ended up with new wings, welding and then a respray etc.

bigunit_271078 02-15-2013 05:25 AM

Zingari - i think you are right. Its probably a bloody nice car. I just think it needs to be priced correctly to sell. As a 3.3ltr.....i think it needs to be 23-26k for it to shift. Its a bit like the high mileage fascination over here. People wont touch cars with 100k miles on principle no matter what work has recently been done or the condition of the car which is daft as hell.

Very daft, but it seems to affect cars' values no matter how old the car. It also appears to make many 964 mileages go backwards or stand still. Keep seeing 964s being offered for sale at lower mileages or same mileages as when I saw them 5 years previously. Maybe people only drive them in reverse, Ferris Bueller style :D

bigunit_271078 02-15-2013 09:14 AM

bigunit_271078 02-15-2013 03:38 PM

Frank - you need to do the JZM trick and now claim that your car is at "0 miles" post rebuild ;)

jack.pe 02-18-2013 08:45 AM

Cheap Tip 2, could go for £9K but looks like it might need an engine rebuild..

Gents I have a friend with a Cayman. I'm slowly convincing him to go for a 964.

Thing is he's one of those people for which cars just have to work and be perfect. lol. To that effect, I'd like to find him an immaculate 964 coupe manual. It really has to be flawless in order to convince him not to buy the new Cayman.
If you see anything - let me know. I've showed him the red one at Strasse but it's too Red for him and too track orientated. The immaculate Cobalt coupe C4 that sold recently would have been a contender...

He's in absolutely no rush atm - so that helps to find the perfect 964.

Don't hate me, but I'd keep the Cayman, especially if it's an S and more so if a R.

It's the best modern P-car by miles IMHO.

What he should do is add a 964 !

bigunit_271078 02-18-2013 06:08 PM

Blasphemy here but I reckon this wouldn't be a bad shout to replace a cayman.

Yup I showed him that car actually. He likes the early lookin' ones...

boxsey911 02-18-2013 07:05 PM

If by new Cayman you mean the latest 981 version, I guess he's a new car kind of guy and therefore might not be able to trust an old car. No matter how immaculate it is. My buddy Tony is very much the same. He loves my 964 and always jumps in for a ride around the track. However, he'd never buy an old car even though his Porsches are always for weekend use. He likes the peace of mind of a nearly new car (being a good Yorkshireman he never buys brand new :D).

BTW many of you will know Tony when he had the white 997GT3 that he bought to Donny. He's currently got a nearly new white Boxster S that he'll be joining us in on the trip to Spa.

You may be right... we're humouring each other. then again Tom was a Cayman owner and ended up in a 964. Having said that he did sell it for a MK1 GTI - he changes car every year or so!

He's been looking at 60s/ 70s 911s but I think that's stretch too far for him.

bigunit_271078 02-23-2013 05:43 PM

Boxsey - are you referring to Purds? (Tony). Nice guy. He took me round donny in the 997 gt3. Quite astounding what they can do as standard kit. I felt a tad ill after my ride though haha. Did he really go from the gt3 to a boxster? .........

Yes you've got it right. Purds had two boxsters and a 997C2S before the GT3. The GT3 was a box he wanted to tick off and is now back to a Boxster S. With several years amateur rally driving experience he knows how to pedal, so don't be surprised when he overtakes us at Spa. ;)

EDIT - forgot to say its a C4 manual coupe

A neighbour ( Cheshire) is looking to sell his car , its not advertised , its a bit of a reluctant sale as he's had it for last 13 years.
Guards red , 1990 first registered , 91000 miles , very nice condition with black seats , red piping , red carpet.

PM me in first instance for more info.

Must be negotiable , it is a C4 ( have now edited original post ) so not destined to become a track day project , its been a P&J so he's not going to be happy to give it away :D

Hi Fella's,
I'm looking for an honest LHD C2 manuel, prefer a later car but that's not so important.
As long as it's an honest car and been looked after.
Do you know of anything, especially if its owned by a member of the forum.
I'm happy to import it from where ever it may be.
Cheers

Hi Stuart, Not too many LHD ones left over here now. Most have already been bought and sent back to the other side of the channel because they were a bargain compared to prices in other European countries.

I'm in Switzerland, but my office is in London. I've looked at a number of cars, mostly RHD, but it really makes sense for me to buy LHD. I've found a few suitable cars in the states, but getting a response from the dealers is like getting blood out of a stone.
I've spent of lot of time on Mobile.de and hunted on the Swiss sites, but mostly the prices are much higher than a RHD and you are right about an RS conversion. It's proving hard to find a decent car with a history you can trust. As long as its a good honest car that's al that matters, it's going to be completely stripped and rebuilt anyway.

I've had recent thoughts about selling my 964 and letting Paul Stephens do it for me buts it's RHD but it has a full history and is totally genuine with a Peter Morgan report done last year to back it up and I've spent cash on it including recent front bushes. Drives impeccably

This looks pretty special... C2 RS rep, fully rebuilt. However pisses me off that they just put the mileage since rebuild up. It has not done 9,000 miles. Fully rebuilt or not.

Yes, but with close to 100,000 miles and no mention of an engine rebuild I think it is way overpriced. Unless of course 964 prices really have moved up this much.

I would be inclined to say they just may have.... Looking at the price of Targas and cabriolets - they've gone up also.

Now it's just a question of time to see if these prices are sustainable/ whether the market has become overly confident.

It's been a little while since we've seen a clean rebuilt coupe on the market - what are their values now.

The two that spring to mind are the Guards Red at Strasse that is mint at £30k and the Mint Green that's mint at £40k.

By that (possibly overpriced) effect a mint car that needs a rebuild should fetch up to £20k with £8k on a full rebuild giving a sale value around £30k perhaps.

Hmmmm....

Haves1979 07-03-2013 06:47 AM

Interesting comments here re 3.2 prices so maybe it's all air cooled 911s that are on the up:

At the bottom of the listing under Further Information:

I have a ton of history for the car going back to the early 90's the car underwent a full top end rebuild in 2007 as seen in the history.

Ad says he has a new Boxster on order.

Looks like strong money but I think that if someone is in the market for a really clean and cared for car they should snap this up sharpish.

ras62 07-05-2013 06:23 AM

That is a fantastic C2. Should sell quickly at that money.

Turbo Jonny 07-05-2013 06:33 AM

Sure air cooled cars are appreciating. Nominal prices might seem high
but there is also the effect of depreciating currency as our
indebted governments cant stop printing.
Why would you invest in the financial system when you
can enjoy your Porsche investment ? Its not that i expect my cars to appreciate but i am so happy to be free from seeing my savings evaporate in banksterdom.

+1

John B's car is like new in many parts!

BLACK-BETTY 07-05-2013 08:58 AM

John's car is sure a looker. It's in pristine condition. The seats were done by Southbound - believe it or not they're even more delicious in the leather. The gearbox rebuild is a very good plus.

The paint has a very strong lustre and the wheels are pristine.

Zingari 07-05-2013 02:10 PM

This has appeared again with another dealer - same price though. IIRC last Independent dealer was in Scotland who described as "..a bit of a history, hence price"

STUARTQ 07-06-2013 01:57 AM

Johns car is quite well know too which will help price wise too I'm sure.

The white turbo, looks good from the photo's and its being sold by a well known dealer with, as far as I know, a good reputation, but a Cat C car will always be a Cat C car.

It does seem good value as a base car, but I think they bank on you then parting with a load of extra cash with them to turn it into something else. I guess if that is your intention anyway, then RPM Project deals show their worth.

Still, the car doesn't seem to be there anymore, so it may have been snapped up.

RS badge when it's not an RS
Still got the 2 pot rear brakes (and presumably standard fronts)
Claimed 320 bhp but no details of how that's been achieved
2 inch lowering kit but no further detail of what suspension it has
At £30K I'd expect there to be some substance to go with the styling ;)

STUARTQ 08-13-2013 06:30 PM

I think, that what Boxsey is trying to say that they are claiming this and that, but the ad sucks and doesn't give you the details you would expect to really get you interested at that price.

I guess if the advert described who did the engine work and suspension work etc a brief of what was done, we might all get excited about it.

boxsey911 08-13-2013 07:26 PM

Absolutely right Stuart, if he wants £30K he needs to make a bit more effort. He should take a lead from the advert for the £39K mint green one:

Have to say, that looks like a nice car!

If you take the work into account, well worth the money.

And I do like GP white.

Bought a 996 c4s from these guys. Let's just say I would never buy anything from them ever again. Ever! Did I say Ever !!

deutschland-dobson 08-24-2013 01:54 PM

Saw this car a few times last year at shows. I was told last week it was up for sale, but the price I was told was different to that shown on the Redline site. Not sure if its been bought by them, or if the owner is connected to the company and changed price.

Chris

deutschland-dobson 08-24-2013 02:00 PM

BTW the car did run on E28s.

Looks like they were just sold:

Lensey 08-24-2013 03:36 PM

It was up for £35k for a few weeks then dropped to £32k, I think the garage bought it for £25k or under. Had lots done to it and looks great in the pics.

deutschland-dobson 08-24-2013 03:56 PM

Sounds about right. A lad approached me at VW Festival asking if I wanted to sell mine. He told me Richies (think I've got that right?) '64 was up for sale for £26k.

Chris

bigunit_271078 08-24-2013 04:23 PM

Yeah but at that price I would stretch myself and get the mint green Rutland racing 964.

Feels like a bubble to me...

It does seem like genuinely good cars with enough 'RS' bits or RS style mods, mainly c2's but also c4's, are around the £25-£30k mark now...

Seen this car.. initially seemed very nice but close inspections shows suspect paint job and small rust bubbles in the usual places. Also wwould be worried about what the paint is hiding. Seems fairly priced though.. as long as there are no hidden horrors.

It was the guy we spoke to at Donny Steve, wasn't thinking of selling then but things have changed, (not car related) and gave him a call.Right place, right time. Nice to see it go to a local lad. Don't see me getting back into one any time soon sadly, may take some time to stop checking the forums though!! I've met some top guys over the years and been helped by some I will never meet. Hopefully i've put a little bit back in. Might pop down to see you all at the Donington meet next year in my old shed for a fix of 964!!!

Cheers for now.

A few turbo's have appeared on this thread - I don't suppose anyone knows what prices they sold for? I need to value mine for insurance and it's hard with so few turbo's selling. I think it would cost £35k to replace in the current market, if you could fine one. (1991, red, black interior, 3.3L, 99k miles, engine rebuild and upgrade (cams, turbo, headers) at 47k, genuine speedlines, brand new suspension, needs c.£1.5k of paint to fix some problem areas).

Anyone know of any clearing prices? Thanks, Josh

JZM - £32K for a Carrera 2 with 138, 000 miles on the clock!!!!!
Ok, it has had a full respray and engine rebuild but still, either prices are really going crazy or this is is way overpriced. And claiming 8,000 miles for it is very cheeky of JZM

They are cheeky little fu kers. They told me my car wasn't worth much when I went to trade in despite having a packet spent on it and a full rebuild. To quote them " at the end of the day it's Still done 136k miles".

Just as bad as any other car dealer.

Josh my turbo sold for £36k through Dk a little while back with genuine speedlines, and pretty much everything else new except paint and interior. Prices are on the up so make sure you factor that in. I'm sure you would struggle to get a new set of speedlines under £5k.

Gmund have one on at £65k which is the highest I've ever seen a 3.3 unless the mileage was very low.

GazC2 10-16-2013 08:20 AM

:DCashmere and cup two`s not my cup of tea, pretty speculative at £32k since mines done 156,000 its yours for £25k

Thanks. Paul Devya has one at £55k and it says deposit taken. Would love to know the final price, and condition. Anyway, mine has been valued at £42.5k and the insurers have agreed that. Crazy money, but at least it's in my favour!

Glad to hear you have a fixed policy.

Isn't that blue turbo the same one they had c24 mths ago. Think they had it on for about £37k or maybe a couple of £k more.

BLACK-BETTY 10-20-2013 07:41 PM

Well looks like Parr is at it also.

We all keep saying it's unsustainable but prices just keep rising. Not too long ago you could buy a mint coupe for 18K. Seems the accepted values for mint examples are now between £ 24 and 30K.

Someone over on 911UK brought up an interesting question. If you had to sell your car, how much would it take for you to let it go? Does it makes sense when you answer the question?

After all 964s seem to be a sellers market.

If those miles are genuine and not 33k miles since rebuild then I think the price is pretty good actually. Prices have jumped c£10k over the last 2 years.

How long do we expect it to last on sale, 1 day?

STUARTQ 10-21-2013 03:45 AM

I agree with Olly, doesn't seem bad for the miles and does look very clean. Compared to LHD prices in germany, france etc, RHD are still cheaper, but we are looking at a smaller market place too.

For a previously unloved 911, 964's are looking all loved up at the moment.

That green on green Targa is a bargain, in 10 years time it will look extremely kraut-retro and the lack of service history won't matter a bit. Another one for my imaginary secret hangar full of cheap interesting cars I think...

Rephlex 11-01-2013 09:46 AM

There was a big discussion about this car from Thomas Scmidt and others on the RS Facebook page. Basically it was for sale for a lot less money for 18 months in Germany and all buyers walked away. Then it was put into auction (Bonhams?) and hexagon bought it. It's reckoned to have been raced and had two prangs. On balance, seems like there is a lot more to it than hexagon present. If I can find the relevant discussion I will post it up.

Added;

Lots of info and speculation on the 964rsdatabase.com page on Facebook. Inference is, it has been for sale for a couple of years and anyone who has done due diligence has walked away. Until Hexagon bought it at Bonhams.

http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/2139...%3D45%26m1%3D1

Comments from Thomas Schmitz
this is f.... nuts !!! i know the car for years and it did not sell in germany at 139.000 euro due to lots of racing and two accidents in the past.

.... maybe in few years time this car is worth 500 K GBP who knows. It is one of only 51 ever made. It has high milage ( aprox 135 K KM ) was raced in the german Porsche Club by H.G. Sprick ( the owner ) and Oliver Dutt ( very good driver ). It had bump in the front and in the back ( see bonnet pins on front aand rear ) , engine blew up once and was rebuilded ( guess at Porsche in Stuttgart ). It was up for sale in germany at aporx 130 - 135 K euro first and later at 150 K euro for about 2 years but nobody was willing to pay that amount. Sold later together with a Testarossa and a BMW in a package. Than for sale at a dealer near Frankfurt at 179 as fare as i remember but again nobody bought it. Anyway - maybe we are all wrong and the buyer was right and did a clever move. Only time will tell.

NB have you seen what they want for e46 CSL's :p

bigunit_271078 11-02-2013 06:05 AM

They do have comedic pricing strategy. Given a nice e46 csl us anywhere from £20-40k depending on mileage I hate to think what they charge. Nice rare car though. Wouldn't mind one

Sample of August cars (no idea if still stock haven't checked)

55k £36k
36k £47k
27k £50k
24k £54k

A number of CSL owners I was having a discussion with thought this was by turns hilarious and quite good for them! They are obviously selling cars.

raoul 11-02-2013 07:40 AM

Just for pricing info I just sold my 964 for virtually the asking price (c2 red, linen leather on pistonheads) yesterday. Buyer had Peter Morgan come round for a ppi and bought it without coming to see it himself. And i bought an e46 m3 csl, black, 58k miles for £27,750. It is bonkers.

Raoul - nice one. Any idea of P Morgans findings.....must have been good if the guy bought it without seeing it. Nice pick up with the csl and a very fair price. Does it still have bmw warranty?

Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the move 964 to csl? Have thought about making the same move myself, as expecting another littleun in January and won't get them both in the 964.

raoul 11-02-2013 10:15 AM

Hi chaps, the ppi went very well. All he said to my other half was it was a very good car. The next thing I know I'm being offered pretty much what I wanted without a viewing. So a stupidity was paid and it's being collected next weekend.
I've had the m3 for around the weeks and it is another step up in speed, acceleration and responsiveness. Plus the induction noise above 4000 rpm is epic. Nothing like a standard e46 or e90 m3. It is a car that is an event every time you drive it much like the 964.
Time will tell if I bond with it like the 911's I've owned but I don't have a garage now and was looking for something more modern that could handle being under a cover over the winter. Also something that was likely to appreciate over the next few years.
I'm sure I'll get back to Porsches again in the future though..... is in the blood.

Haves1979 11-02-2013 10:26 AM

Cheers, sounds like fun! Think I'll have to have a drive of one as not sure how I'll get on with the smg. Also although mine is very similar to yours, colour miles cup 1's etc it's only a lowly c4 so I'd not be getting the same return so i'd have to put more £ in.

raoul 11-02-2013 12:00 PM

The smg is good enough that I haven't missed the clutch. Flappy paddles and the stubby gearstick are both great for changing gear and on maximum sporty setting with throttle response on max the feedback to inputs is instant. It feels like a race car for the road. God knows what a 996 gt3 (which is what I really wanted) feels like.

The car is in superb shape and very much surprised the team at Tognola who PPId it and Dove House who just changed my suspension and geo'd it. In both cases they thought it was remarkable. :-)

Very pleased as i always suffer that post purchase fear that all the pre purchase research still wouldn't save me from buying a pup. Gladly i dodged that bullet again :-)

Great forum here BTW, have already used it many times for pre-DIY research and it has always provided me with the answers I sought.

I remember Tony (purds), he bought my basalt Boxster S in 2004 at about 10 months' old with prob ~5k miles on it. Was a gent to deal with and he got an 'as new' car from me. Good to see he is still enjoying Porsches. Please pass on my best!

Yes I've known Tony since he owned that boxster. Unless I'm very much mistaken that means you must be Joe BoXa from Boxa.net?

FWIW I owned a CSL for 5+ years and have had a 993 (lowly carrera, but tweaked on the suspension side with PSS10s) for about 3 years.

For about a year I had both at the same time, then had to decide which to keep due to lack of space. I kept the 993.

CSL is indeed epic, but for me (on the bumpy b-roads I mostly frequent) lacked the involvement and finesse of the Porsche. On the same road you'd definitely be going faster in the CSL, but I was having more fun going slowly in the 993.

Would be a different story on a track, I imagine.

Indeed I did and still sometimes do. I joined in 2005 when I got my first boxster and started a thread on there about the 964 when I added that as my weekender...it's now a very long one!:

Mint standard 964s @ £ 30K+

This is getting crazy ambitious! Crazy is fine by me.

What is the definition of an RS'd 964? Some play fast and loose with the RS moniker...

Anything that's not standard... a bit of suspension work, buckets and some RS inspired styling I guess!!! Lol

My friend has the first RS Rep that Jasmine produced, and it is an accurate RS feel, suspension, clutch, rigidity of chassis - however if I had £42k to spend on a 964, I would stretch to a real RS for £60-£70k It would stand a better chance of retaining value over time, I would think.:soapbox:

I posted an ad on 911uk yesterday too but hasn't been authorised yet for some reason?

Anyways it might be gone to a dealer tomorrow for a bit less than the price posted on IB so if anyone fancy's a C2 that needs a fettle giz a shout. (is saying that even allowed on here?)

That silver C4 at Virgin is the Dog's gonads and actually a very good price with that mileage.

On recent form, at first glance, this looks to be a steal.

964TOK 11-24-2013 06:08 PM

Car @ mr911 looks like it started off with a linen interior, door cards and seats changed and left the rest (see door bins and carpets). Not sure what is going on with the ride height / offsets (mine looked nothing like that before I lowered it - guess tyres are wrong size which does not help) and would want a closer look at the rear engine drain chanels to see if the spot welds are there for the rear quarters.

Nice Cobalt Blue, low mileage (58,000) Carrera 4 for £32K...

Has some RS bits, however the dealer seems a little lacking in knowledge, the wheel for example is not an original RS wheel. Also, "Fantastic Service History" does not necessarily equate to Full Service History. Plus the closing line of "First to see will buy" is almost enough to put me off in itself.

Haha, that's the same interior colour as my car! That's the first time I've seen it on another car (mine is LHD too, must be a German thing?).

It does tend to split opinion, I've grown to like it and think it complements the midnight blue exterior quite well. Entirely subjective of course...

It is nice to see £30,000 starting to be sensibly considered for basically a stock C4 with £1500 of seats and cage. Makes my running costs for this year of £10 per mile seem like a decent investment :D

Looks remarkably like Talat's 3.8 RS Rep build that's been written up on here!

I know the guy who built that, he also built another one exactly like it in orange. I tried to buy it around 5 years ago when these cars could be had at sensible money but missed out by a couple of weeks.

He says he knows nothing about that car, bar what is listed, and to contact the owner for further details

Seems perfectly reasonable to me, though no idea why the owner didnt list it himself

A great idea but not translated into a quality finish which is a shame as there will be a market (perhaps limited for a Tiptronic) if done and right

This LHD C2 caught my eye. Check out the VIN sticker on the door pillar and the plate in the boot. Anyone seen this style before?

964TOK 12-10-2013 11:24 AM

Seen it on early 911's from the US, they have Vin stickers in the door pillar.

Ex US car? All US 964's have these?

boxsey911 12-10-2013 11:53 AM

I wondered that too but it has an ROW vin from what I can read on the pics.

That door sticker has both English and what looks like Arabic so probably in import from the middle east. Looks like a nice car.

Considering the £30K plus that coupes have been appearing at recently £25k seems pretty good value for a C2.. if the service history backs up their claims..

From the pics I fully agree that the car looks good but am still intrigued by the VIN labeling on the car. To my knowledge all 964s have the aluminum VIN plate on the side wall of the trunk and it's stamped below the petrol tank and later 964s have it on the A pillar so it can be viewed through the screen. I've never seen a sticker on the door pillar and the plate in the trunk is a different style to the normal trunk plate. Hence, it would be good to know if this is a country specific way of VIN labeling the car.

Theres been a good few tips recently, someone should start doing a drive-in drive-out tip to manual conversion as the gap in the value of the cars would almost cover the work nowadays. Wonder if a tip to manual conversion would have as much stigma as a L to R hand drive conversion?

There are numerous early 911S that have been converted from Sportmatics to Manuals. No real effect on value compared to a car that was supplied new with a manual box. However a L->R conversion is a massive AVOID.

From previous post, its not too difficult a conversion (read somewhere 10 hours) but the parts are tricky and expensive to get hold off. If I hold onto mine will put a 993 6 speed in it.

Didn't RPM have the RS Targa recreation or rep for sale too, I think it was featured in one of the Porsche mags recently.

Not me, but I think there is another GR 964 coupe around there as my dad works up that ways and has mentioned seeing it a few times.

Have been using it for work this week in the city centre though, which is a bit of a treat compared to getting the Metro!

Not technically a C2 for sale but this thread on 911UK is already an interesting read:

..and the guy potentially taking it on would welcome any help we can give.

robt964 01-03-2014 12:03 PM

It's so scary. As we all know, *EVERYTIME* what you see in the pictures is just the very tip. Hope to be proven wrong here but it will be totally riddled with worm. I think 16K is still too optimistic. Even if you have the capability to take on that level of metalwork yourself the sums just won't add up - even if you took the car for free. I'd happily take a Cat D or crash damaged car over that shed :(

STUARTQ 01-03-2014 01:32 PM

BLACK-BETTY 01-04-2014 06:54 AM

I went in to have a look, the car is on sale for £ 350,000

The car is immaculate, it has clearly been repainted. It's understood that the car was involved in a track crash and was rebuilt by Porsche early on in it's life.

I personally am not a fan of this one because of why it was bought and the lack of transparency regarding the cars history by Hexagon.

- had a quick look at this one today… it is very clean. Just as good -or better- than the pictures suggest. Within the documentation there is a [Peter Morgan] PPI report from 2003 at the time the last owner purchased it. In his 10 year ownership its only covered a further 5k miles…

Not my favourite colour, and the red-piped / light interior isn't to my taste, BUT, it's a clean C2 with almost full history . . a good buy for someone (who has more available funds than me:( )

I'd be looking into this if I was that dude on 911uk looking to buy that rotten barn find. Would make a nice clubbie rep.

In fact if it was LHD I'd probably be looking to buy it myself :)

Lovely colour what ever its called!

Did you have a splitty before the 964 then? I've been trying to convince the missus for 2 years now. Frequent trips to VW shows in the 964 is slowly working!

Chris

yeah i sold a split to get it we still have an early bay though

Red 964 J-Reg. Private Sale. <100K miles. Looks nice in the pics, bit of paint here and there makes the panels stand out a bit (driver's door and wing) but it is on the surface a fair price <£20K.

That would be a great way to build a car, that shell plus the extra 1K for the the bodywork he has. Then just look around for a rotten donor, as it'll only be the engine/tranny and suspension metalwork you'd need. All shockers, bushes and rubbers would be replaced regardless of where you started. I'd bet it works out less expensive than paying 20-25K for a good car and then refurbing that. Given the condition and pretreatment of that shell I recon its a bargin. I would be all over that if it were 12 months ago. Hmmm maybe next time round :)

The pics are not great quality so perhaps I am mistaken but I think there are serious signs of rust on at least one rear wing panel, might be that both need replacing... if so there will likely be other rust too.

Could be worth it given this is the rare 2L model.

Was bored and spoke to owner, it s a C4 by the way..
There is no bubbling, just pics look that way. No visible rust. Has had top end done at Unit 11. Nice guy. Sounds like a good C4 for the money.

I know this is not a car but a set of magnesium RS wheels are on eBay.. would love these. Seller has 0 feedback though so beware...

These were on before Christmas and "sold" for ~£2,500 so something fishy I would suggest. Seller in remote location, would be a risk to commit to buy and collect and sheer madness to hand over money beforehand.

EDIT £3,300 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Po...item2585f9800f

Another set for $7.5k :D

It had gone by the time I'd had a chance to enquire about it, and anyway, where's the fun in taking the easy way out :burnout:

I truly think you're getting yourself into a world of pain.

If I may be so crude, what's your restoration budget and the cost of the car?

Does he still have the panels for sale bud, if he sold the shell? For £1k those may save you a few quid?

Most of all enjoy the project :)

Just ran the offset calc to compare against my own LMs with 8" and ET50 and it states

"inner clearance 11mm LESS"

"outer position EXTEND an extra 1mm"

Yes these will fit perfect. I run this exact spec on my E28s with 225 & 265.
Not necessary but - I would suggest small front shims and rear adapters to get an aggressive stance.

deutschland-dobson 01-16-2014 01:30 PM

Speaking of which im spacing my front LMs out by 5mm this weekend to see if it looks any better...

Don't think this one's been on yet. I did consider a road trip for a flip it's just a bit too far...London price anyone??

Anyone know the car?

1992 GP White C4 £16k

STUARTQ 01-18-2014 05:25 PM

^^^^^
Looks good, I looked at a GP white 964 at the same price, but I thought it was 6k to much.
It looked as good in the photos, but once I'd seen it close up, the condition spelt unloved.
If its in a nice clean cared for car, that's going to be a good del for someone.

jack.pe 01-24-2014 12:36 PM

Really pisses me off when firms like JZM do this... a car advertised as having 8,000 miles when in fact in the description it turns out it has 127,000 miles.... just because they rebuilt the engine rebuild 8000 miles ago. In that case I should just advertise mine as having 560 miles on the clock and charge accordingly (not that I am selling).

Really?! Makes sense to me...with people's hang-ups about mileage it helps gain perspective...
