Default Life expectancy of a LUK Flywheel?

My car - C2 - was built in 02/93 so I guess it has the LUK Flywheel,it has 104000 miles, my mechanic tells me he can tell by the noise when the engine is stopped that I should begin to think on changing the Flywheel. I really canīt hear anything different from what I usually hear so I think that maybe I can wait and save the money slowly
What are the usual signs that show that you should change the flywheel ASAP?

I was told about 80K on a Luk DMF. Mine has 144k and is starting to make noise.

They rattle and knock. Sometimes its hard to pick out unless you are tuned in to it.

You will know when it breaks becaue it will make all kinds of racket.

The Luk flywheel in my old '95 993 didn't make it to 40 kmiles before it started clunking.

Thanks for your answers!!! I guess I can call myself lucky that my flywheel made it to 104K miles and still doesnīt sound too noisy, maybe it has a couple more miles in it

Are your sure it's the original DMF? If your car has had a clutch change before, there's a good chance the flywheel might have been done before already.

No Andy, I am not sure if it was changed before, I know the previous owner didnīt do it, but my car spent its 4 first years in Canadá and that segment of the life of my car is a mistery for me.
My bet is that neither the clutch nor the flywheel were ever changed so itīs up to me to do it

Henry,
The next time you shut the car off, depress the clutch before turning the key. Keep the clutch pedal depressed until the engine stops. Is the noise any less?
