Question Need your help for the questions of replacing Valeo discs in 964 C4 center diff

Dear all 964 buddies,

Need your help for the questions of 964 C4 center diff.
My car is a 1991 964 C4 US spec. I have recently encountered a big problem when installing the longitude lock slave cylinder 964-339-775-07 which I just bought from the Sunset Imports.
I found that the front-rear lock cylinder measuring value in the transmission case maybe too big( too deep), that showing the inner lining discs maybe worn now. But I was using the typical caliper to measure it instead of special tool 9514 which I couldn't have one.
The attached PDF "front-rear diff lock cylinder measuring" is for your reference.

And I also found that in the repair manual of 964 says it needs to replace with Valeo friction discs due to the original Gylon inner discs would be stopped to be used.
The attached PDF"modification for Valeo discs" is for your reference too.
And I did notice that it seems to be Valeo discs in the PET which I am using now but I am not very sure either.

Would anyone please help me to find out what parts should I order with your professional experience about this Valeo discs modification suggested by Porsche? I am kind of frustrating for several days studying all the documents in hand.
For example, I don't even know if I should order the "999-201-435-00 washer 80x115" in the PET. And is it the "Wave Disc" illustrated as No.1 within the upper left drawing in the PDF"modification for Valeo discs"?

And one more question, Does anyone know how to use the normal tools instead of Porsche special tool 9514 to measure the counter-bearing adjusting value?

Please help~ Thank you very much in advance!

William

Just a memo here.

Today I asked about this to Mr. Adrian Sreather, and thanks to his kind reply, even though the problem is still here. It's very very happy to talk to him about this, since I have bought and read his book for a long time.

Update- Bought a Lock Cylinder from Sunset, and replaced the seals of front diff. It took a lot of time cleaning all the parts.

Does anyone got Bulletin 3940 in hand can share?

Sunset told me that the Valeo Disc Modification is described in Bulletin 3940.

And I got the parts quote as below.

parts for diff lock

95033272710 =7 $19.47 each

95033272210 =7 $126.90 each

95033272730 =1 $13.23

95033272731 =1 $14.77

95033272732 =1 $14.77

95033272733 =1 $13.23

95033272734 =1 $13.23

95033272735 =1 $14.77

95033272736 =1 $14.77

95033272737 =1 $14.77

95033272738 =1 $14.77

99952301301 =1 $40.47

95033271101 =1 $107.33

parts for longitudinal

99920143500 =1 $52.57

92833272800 =4 $70.66 each

92833272604 =3 $14.77 each

92833272605 =1 $15.04

92833272606 =1 $19.78

92833272607 =1 $19.04

92833272608 =1 $19.04

92833272609 =1 $19.04

92833272610 =1 $106.21

Since mine is 1991 C4, the gearbox maybe already adopted Valeo Disc as described here http://www.williamortel.com/porsche-...nary-work.html , the note below. Maybe I won't need to buy all the parts listed above.

Need to disassemble gearbox to check for more details.

If I was in this position I'd try and get some input from Matt at Guard Transmission. Friendly, personable, and professional, he's likely forgotten more than I'll ever know about these gearboxes.

Once Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac are released from conservatorship I'll be disgustingly well off and I'll ship the whole trans to Matt while Steve W is building me an 8000rpm screamer.

(Hey, dreaming's free, right? )

Damn bad luck, looks nasty, where there any symptoms?

Please do let us know how you go along with this job. Many cars probably need it and very few will shops will have experience of replacing the discs and setting up the diffs correctly..

No symptoms. I dropped the engine and gearbox to sort out the syncro in the 2 / 3 shift and this is what the mechanic found. The annoying part is that you have to replace all of the discs if your car was pre '91. I may bite the bullet and do both clutches. On top of that the 3rd gear set needs work as do a couple of synchros.
