Tiptronic does not engage first gear
I have a 91 c2. Tiptronic does not engage in first. Shifts fine rest of gears. Also if u shift all way down to first without tip the car pulls fine. I took it into local Porsche guy and they ran te codes and serviced transmission but no solutions. Anybody else faced this?

From your explanation, what you are experiencing is normal. If you select D in the left gate you will be starting out in 2nd gear unless you apply heavy pedal pressure. If you select gear 3,2 or 1 in the left gate you will notice that it will start out in 1st gear. This is the same with the right gate, if when stopped you select the right gate you still have to tip down to first to start out in 1st. I have a book "Porsche Tiptronic Service manual" and could spend alot of time explaining what this transmission is capable of. It is unbelievable. It has 5 driving memories and sences actuating speed of the throttle, engine speed, driving speed, lateral acceleration, longitudinal accel/deceleration and much more. You can also downshift by just tapping the throttle. The torque converter locks up in 2,3 and 4. I would love to post this book on here but I'm not sure how.

Follow Up
Reading that book would be helpful. From a starting point in the right gate tipped down to first the engine revs but car does not move. If I tip up to 2 then car moves fine. For whatever reason the transmission does not want to engage in first in Tip mode. Probably doing a very poor job of explaining this issue but I appreciate the help.

Bulldog90, sounds like you did a good job of explaining. I have no idea.
Try something. Select D in the left gate, drive off slowley to about 10 mph and then push the throttle down at least 3/4 and you should feel a down shift to first gear. Let us know.
