Default Question on airbag bridge plug on C4

I have a 90 C4 and am in the process of installing a Momo wheel. I decided to use a bridge plug (928 612 220 00) to disable the airbag and extinguish the warning light. This is the part that goes into a connector under the console where the accels are located.

The bridge plug has a single jumper across 2 pins, however all the other pins in the plug are populated. So I'm pretty sure this is not as simple as plugging the bridge plug into the connector. I was thinking the other wires would have to be transfered to the bridge plug or I'd lose some functionality

Anyone have experience with thus??

thanks,

Dan

I did that 3 or 4 years ago so it is a little foggy in my memory; but I do remember that you have to remove the "orange" plug and then plug in the "bridge plug". I was a little nervous about doing this job, but it was very straight forward. If you need more help, I would do a search for "airbag bridge plug".

I had read the same thread. I didn't find an orange plug. Mine was black, so I'm a bit confused.

Just for completeness, I found the connector on the wiring diagram and all the wires go to the airbag control unit. So I'm assuming its OK to install the bridge plug without worrying about the unconnected wires.

I successfully installed a new mono steering wheel today on my 964 today but got a little gun shy when it came to installing the bridge plug to override the airbag warning. I searched this forum but was unable to find a good picture of this orange seal I need to break.

I think I found the right plugs but I want to be sure before I start 'breaking' anything. Can someone confirm?

I threw in the pic of the wheel as well. Really excited about it.

that wheel looks good! the orange part there just hold those connectors to that metal part. i couldn't find a way to remove it without breaking it.

That looks like the right connector. I think its unique.

What model wheel is that? It looks right at home.

Yup.. that's all you have to do.. pop the connection open, install plug. Drive.

I was scared too at first, but it works as advertised.

Very interesting, I only have the little two wire white connector and not the wide one... maybe I should dig around a bit? Very odd!

Interesting... will have to open it up when I have some free time this week. Odd considering it is a 91...

Sorry to hijack!
