Default Is this the Caramilk Secret?

I have been having Hall Sensor issues (code 1234) on and off over the last 12 months.

I've been trying to narrow down the problem by looking at other issues as "the hall sensor is rarely the problem". I'm early at the end of my rope (read my "Ghost in the Machine" post from last year). I've read over and over there is now way to replace the hall sensor without replacing the distributor.

My new mechanic mentioned that he's changed the hall sensor on a few cars in the past. He insists it's possible. First time anyone has told me that.

I called Bosch today and they sent me a part breakdown for the dizzy. In the diagram there is a "connector" Part #1 234 485 024. I had a google of the number for a more detailed description and I found a Bosch Tech Service Parts manual which included this picture.

So is this it? The infamous hall sensor connector that fails?

Had the same intermittent hall sensor issue with mine. Replacing dizzy caps and cleaning the ignition lead connector (inside the rubber boot) to the caps solved the issue.

During my 348 search - I was turned on to a connector cleaner called Stabilent 22 - http://www.stabilant.com/ (oddly the absolute lamest website still on the web!)

Might be worth a try first?

I get the Hall error on my car for years yet the car runs fine. What does the Hall sensor even do?

From what i understand reading this forum is that the Hall sensor on the distributor tells the ECU when cylinder #1 fires so that it can fire the fuel injectors in sequential order (ie, sequential fuel injection). When the Hall sensor doesn't work the engine will still run fine but the injectors will not fire sequentially.
