Next Enhancement - RS Clutch/Flywheel...Plus
I'm bored...drove my brother's 95 993 with LWFW..wow...what a difference in responsiveness and smooth reviving. So it's piqued my interest in the upgrade.
My RSA is a sport-street setup...very stock (with a few enhancements stated below), 59K miles (bought at 53K in Mar 2011), no engine work, strong motor...no track time yet but you never know...I've read all the drama on the LWFW on the site so here we go...
Next Up....RS Clutch/RS Flywheel...currently have the following enhancements: RS Shifter, PSS10, Wong Chip, Fabspeed Primary By-Pass. Lufteknic will do the update...
Going with OEM RS parts...Will update all components associated with the upgrade to ensure success...including tune up...
Engine will be out, so we'll detail engine bay and contiguous areas under the car...replace engine blanket etc...make it near new...
Will first Dyno engine and conduct compression check to baseline stats and for historical purposes....
So, here's a few questions:
- Did I miss anything to consider updating since the engine will be out?
- What components are must replacements for this upgrade or since the car will be out? ISV, O2 Sensor, clean fuel injectors, etc...
- Clutch is 10K miles old...should I use or toss for the RS clutch?
- RS Clutch spring adjustability...don't want a heavy clutch, or do I get what I get?
- Flywheel noise...should I selectively dynamat to lessen potential chatter?
Thanks to all in advance...would appreciate any thoughts/advice...I'm learning a lot through this forum!!!

Why not think about taking the entire assembly from my car. We are getting a 5.5" tilton race setup.
Mine was installed late spring and has this years track use - I like to think I'm easy on components - and thus is all in good shape. Weiner can give it all the once over as it comes out anyway.
His chip is in the car also...for you should you want it.

I like the Lt Wt flywheel. Made my C2 a real car, more like the germans intended. I also like the Wevo motor mounts. More direct feel. The rest you've done. Stir and enjoy!!!

The RS setup (lwfw, pressure plate, etc) are nothing short of transformative to the 964 IMHO. The difference is amazing. Make sure your ignition system is in top order (no funky idle issues, vacuum leaks, dirty ISD, etc) beforehand because the RS setup and chip may make these types of issues more pronounced. A chip will be necessary to 'catch' the idle when you come to stop lights.
The difference in how quickly the car revs is awesome. That said, the shorter gearing is a huge upgrade also - haven't done that yet but it's on my list too.

Does anyone have definitive info on the Andial unit? IIRC it weighs in at 18lb. I'd pick that before the 14lb one, personally, but my car is an all-weather driver and I'd rather err on the side of friendly and flexible.
The stocker is way heavy, but you can launch hard

Some nice project plans there for the off season.
I am doing a similar project and will be using the single mass flywheel used in '89, it is 18lb and may be what Andial used. It was first used by RUF and is heavy enough to address the idle dip yet spins up quickly to give the response looked for.
For my gearbox I have sourced a 993 six speed and am re-gearing with a tall 1st, short 2-5, and stock 5th in the 6th gear slot.
Looks like a lot of people are in for a fun Spring.
BTW my solution is not intended to be the same as the track purpose RS LWF, but more a street project.
