Default The 4th Singer Porsche

This was posted in Off Topic for some reason.

Beautiful car even if it did come from the "ugly duckling" 964

What would be unique about the 996 GT3 intake? Is it a VarioRam; larger volume?

Dunno anything about the GT3 intake, but I just read Cosworth is pulling 360hp out of the 3.6 - in a long-term, reliable street motor I presume. Awesome!

Its a 3.9L, and it runs into the limiter at 7500 in a way that makes you grin from ear to ear!

Looks cool, but I do think the wheels are too big.

I was there for this unveiling and for the shoot last week. I can say that this car is nothing short of amazing! The details are exquisite. I know they were going to dyno the motor the following day. Have yet to hear the results, but the goal for this motor was 360 HP, and yes it is 3.9. The intakes are indeed GT3. The motor designed specifically for the Singer will be Cosworth out of Torrance CA, and this was the first time I had seen it up close.

Kai buddy, how the heck are you? I hear your lap times are dropping like a stone. Well done!!!!

Rob is a friend of mine and invited a group of us over for a few drinks and a look see at the first 964 platformed Singer. As Rob likes to say, it's the best & purest platform for an aircooled motor Porsche ever made. I was truly not expecting to see the level of detail and quality present. One example is the seats which are factory 964 sports seats cut off at the top to make way for the adjustable head rest as in the early cars. The seats were then wrapped in a wide basketweave red leather that just ooooozed luxury, and purpose. This just one example of the many unique touches that will set this car apart from all others. Another is the nickel coated exterior trim, everywhere, including the wheels. Up close, this detail will blow you away.

I'd love to see one in real life. Knowing what it costs just to do the stuff we do...Singer prices aren't that far out of line.

We're geting a bit quicker, thanks. The new Motion Control suspension should be a huge help along with the monoballs...but I'm also really excited about getting a proper race seat. As nice as the Recaro Speeds are, they are just not quite up to the task now...

Little Claudia sleeps well these days as she exercises hard.

Excellent. Before you commit to a seat, make sure to test them all out at a speed shop near you. There are many to choose from, and knowing what to expect is most of the battle. A very personal decision!!!

According to this the 3.9 is 400hp, the 3.6 is 360hp. Simply amazing. I know it has been done before, but in a purely street car, OEM-like application?

World-renowned racing and performance engineering company The Cosworth Group is the exclusive supplier of SVD [Singer Vehicle Design] engines, which will be offered in three levels of tune and capacity – a 3.6-litre with 300HP (Touring) or 360HP (Sport), plus a 3.9 to 4.0-litre making over 400HP (Cup).

Point taken. I probably sat in fifty seats this season, in all kinds of cars.

The SparcoPro ADV fits like it was made for me. Wish I could afford the super light carbon fiber one, but...

The Recaros were all perfect at the butt and hips, but none fit my rib cage and shoulders. I hope others considering seats see this and take heed; one truly must try many seats for more than a few minutes each, in the heat of summer.

thanks, KB
