Yes, I will try tomorrow, but it's when you accelerate and it drops to idle, it sounds like "tikitikitiki", not much, only a little.. But I don't know if this is a normal sound or I need a valve adjustment..

Do you know any video on youtube to compare laker??

Regards

I'm doing a valve adjustment this weekend, oil change, plug change also. Mine is making a little noise as I over revved it at 135ish trying to go into 5th gear and found 3rd. I don't know the last time the valves were adjusted as I've owned my car 4 months.

That kind of "Money shift" done by my friend on my car cost me about $16,000 when eventally grenaded the engine...just saying

I know a lot of people don't think it's that important, and perhaps on some cars it's not. However, I promise you that it will make a world of difference.

Not only will it quite the engine up, it will run better, run smoother, preform better, get better mileage and idle better.

Furthermore, it's supposed to be done every 12k, so if you have no proof that it's been done I can almost guarentee that it need to be done.

A properly adjust 911 motor should make virtually zero valve noise.

If you don't know when it was last done, I would have the valves adjusted just to be sure they are set correctly. I would do the same for any other regular maintenance that you don't know the history of. Better to be safe than sorry.

I really don't know how sensitive the Porsche motor is to correct valve adjustment, but on most solid-lifter cars, if you let it go too far you risk burning valves. That alone is worth making sure it's done, besides the aforementioned benefits.

Is he still a friend?
Very unfortunate situation. I remember reading a post on Saab Central a few years ago, where a similar thing happened with the owner of a very nice Saab Viggen, his buddy, and a flubbed WOT shift. The issue of a rebuilt engine, who should pay for it and how much, severely tested the friendship. It was interesting reading the forum members' input, on both sides of the argument.

I picked up my 964 a little more than a year ago and prior to purchasing I spoke with a friend who has been selling Porsches for 25 years. There was a limited amount of service history on the car and I was advised to have the valves adjusted if there was no record of the last time it was done. If your 964 swallows a valve it'll cost a lot more than 10 hours of labor and a gasket kit!

Just do it. You'll sleep better knowing you're in good shape.

I changed plugs and adjusted my valves, today. I'll put her back together tomorrow and see how she runs. My car didn't make noise, other than fantastic 911 sounds.
