Leaking / bad motor mount
#16
I also replaced mine with Pelican 993 mounts.
I did mine on jack stands and held the motor up with a jack. Otherwise you don't have room to work under the car to get the big nut off. The 993 mount has a longer stud so you do need to lower and raise the motor to get them in.
It was a dramatic improvement over the old collapsed hydro mounts. However, you probably get a little more cabin vibration and noise from the solid mounts.
Mine never leaked but the gap between the mount housing and where it mounts to the engine plate was about a 1/2 inch also you could feel and hear the motor moving around back there.
The top four bolts get kind of rusty and I replaced mine with stainless steel bolts and no washers. As per the 993 which used no washers.
My carrier was bent. I can't say what that was from, failed mount or not. I know the car was never in a collision - ever but the passenger side ear was slightly bent.
