Default CCU or blowers

Guys, forgive me for not using the search...

I am in my GF's place with nothing but a BlackBerry at 3am and my A/C ventilation on the 964 stopped working.

So, I turned the fan **** from 2 to 4 and that was it. No more airflow. Just complete silence, no air movement.

Even when I push the second A/C button (which gives me max cool) nothing happens.

Would this be a CCU issue or did the blower go?

My car is useless in this desert without AC.

Advice & tips much appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you check your fuses? If memory serves, the CCU and blowers get their power from fuse #2.

There is a relay in your fuse box that can cause that problem. You just have to give it a tap.

I'll check the fuse and relay tonight... Thanks guys.

Didn't have time last night, just swapped cars and parked her. I hope it is simple.

Called my mech and he says it is fuse #1 and didn't mention a relay.

Time to pull the elec diagram.

Check the fuse in the box in the engine compartment. I think if the rear blower which is run off this fuse doesn't work, the a/c also doesn't. Porsche upsized this fuse from 25 to 30a in a TSB if I'm not mistaken

It is fuse #1 in the lugguage compartment that is gone...

Easy enough to fix... now I hope the new one holds or something else must be wrong.

Thanks for the quick response guys... this saves my day and I can take the 964 out again.

When the bearings in the front fans begin to go out, the squirrel cages bind on the housings and blow the fuse. The new fuse may last for a while but blowing it will become more frequent with use.

Tons of posts on this subject when you get to a computer to do a search. Good luck.

Time to close this thread...

What I think happened is that the ballast resistor for the A/C went (exploded / failed or whatever you want to call it) and took the fuse out.

The fuse was replaced and the ballast resister was replaced as well and I haven't had a problem since.

More info can be found in one of my other threads: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=37266
