Default Two Questions!

Q1) I recently had my oil cooler and all the pressurized oil lines replaced. Since then, I hear the oil flow/circulation as if I have a faucet open in my car. Is this liquid flow noise normal in the car? It is very annoying.

Q2) I had my rear engine lid strut replaced. Now, when I pull the engine lid release to pen, the engine lid opens very roughly. It engages so hard as if there is no shock support, opens very fast and hard, I don't know how else to explain. Does anyone know how it should open when you pull the lever?

I am sorry I am new to this car (bought several weeks ago) so my use of terms is not very sophisticated.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Sorry forgot to mention what my car is, it is a 1991 Carrera 4 (964)

Not sure about the oil cooler question, but your engine lid sounds the same as mine...if your face is in the way when it pops open, it will knock you out

Regarding the oil line circulation noise, does the sound go away once the car warms up? My cars make noise when the oil is cold but the noise disappears when the oil is hot.

When the oil is hot the noise is much less, but there is still some noise.

Laker,

Mine is exactly like that. Now everytime I open the engine lid like that, the automatic electronic spoiler gives a fault (the red light come on the dash) since it is very rough on the spoiler motor I believe.

I hear oil gurgling when I first start the car for a few minutes - its normal.
Dang, I want my engine lid to raise like that. Im tired of the slow drop and hit my head syndrome. New rear struts on order.

I normally do not let it pop open like that, because it rips off the convertible top boot in the process of opening. In the video, I removed a few snaps on the boot before I pulled the release. The spoiler warning light stays on until it receives a signal that the car is in motion. (speed reading) My spoiler light doesn't go off until I'm halfway down the driveway. Tim, are you sure the light only comes on after you pop the engine lid, over and above when first started and in motion?

When I bought my 90 c4 the car was leaking oil from the oil hose that goes from the oil filter to the oil thermostat, I replace it and after that I had the same gurgling noise coming from oil tank when cold, I was going to replace the oil thermostat cause somebody told me that was the problem, until a friend of mine told me that before I did that I needed to change the oil and filter, so I did and the gurgling noise went away

Some RLs have noted different oil filters cause the gurgle and it goes away with a proper Mahle OC54.

Laker
I also think that the whole problem is the oil filter.

Hmmm, my engine lid requires me to pull it up after having released the catch, but it then stays up just fine. Are they meant to pop open automatically? I think I prefer mine the way it is...

Mine pops open like Laker's but most I see are the same as yours. My guess is that aftermarket lid shocks are stronger and make it pop open all the way. I'd prefer mine to pop, then lift like yours which seems a lot more civilized

The turbo rear lid is heavier and has a different shock part number; iirc

I personally don't like it to pop like that. Is there anything that can be done? does anyone have an idea?

Thanks.
