Default What does this mean?

I was driving this morning and the lights shown in the photo suddenly came on. The car sounded and drove normally. I switched off the car and restarted it and the lights went away. About 30 minutes later they came back on again. And again they were extinguished by restarting the car.
Anyone have any advice on what this could mean?
By the way, I have a 1991 964 C2.
Thanks.

Check the level of your brake fluid.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the holding container and the level is just above the division of the black plastic lower section and the clear plastic upper section. There are two lines on the clear section. I assume that this is for low and high levels? The fluid appears to be just below the lower line.
What fluid to I use to top it up? And am I right in my assumption that the top line is the high fill line?

First, it sounds like your brake fluid may be low if it's below the bottom line. You definitely want that to be in between the two. Also, to check your fluid (which is also your transmission fluid since this is a transaxle setup, I would recommend looking at this:

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...ion-fluid.html

This explains how to fill which includes pictures of the fill hole and check level hole. In sum, if you top it off and it takes a bit before it comes back out of the hole, you're low...or you are most likely due for a change regardless if it's never been changed before.

You actually want the brake fluid at the MAX line with the engine running.

I agree, sounds like low brake fluid.

The spec is dot 4 or 5 non-silicone

Are all brake fluids the same or is there a specific brand / type that I should be using?

I hate to do this, but someone must:

To me it means you really need an owners manual; asking here is a good thing and you'll get promt precise answers, but nothing beats reading up first.

Thanks Kai. Sadly, if I had one I would read it. But the car came without one. And I won't be robbed by those people selling them at exhorbitant prices online. Now if anyone has one they are not using or have a digital copy (ie CD or DVD) that they can send or email, I'll happily accept. Even if it is reasonably priced.
Until then I have to thank everyone here for the valuable info. Remember that for everyone that asks, there are others that also probably want to know but might not have wanted to expose themselves. I know that I have learned much from reading about other owners problems.

I'm sure that there is nothing wrong with the 4WD system/diffs etc. It's the brake fluid.

Thanks.
I'm also going to go out on a limb and say it's not AWD related
