964 WON'T START PLEASE HELP
Hi fellow Rennlisters..
First and most importantly, my thoughts are with anyone who is experiencing the hurricane / floods in the US (and elsewhere), ... know the feeling, we had our fair share of flooding here in Brisbane (Australia) not too long back and fully understand your predicament. Never give up hope- tomorrow will be a better day.
I have a 1986 911 turbo with a later 964 turbo engine (1991 M30 69 ENGINE) - single distributor 3.2 Litre.
Car had been sitting in garage for appx.3 months and prior to this I deceided not to continue using since I developed a 'miss' in the engine (quite apparent on the AVCR/boost control electronic screen /panel on my dash.. and there was a mis-fire occasionally as well as engine would start and then die out after a few minutes. Overall used the car about 6 times since 2008
Here's what has happened before I have stopped trying to experiment and ran to the computer pulling out my hair in the meantime:
Engine turns over perfectly, and with persistant trying I smelt petrol (Gas) and now I have actually seen gas drip from my exhaust where the heat exchanger is -both sides (I have a weld on mine as the set-up is an aftermarket stainless steel)
Using other posts in this forum, I have thus far checked the 12v supply to the single coil or ignition transformer and this reads o.k (+on the coil=12v), I have also checked the resistances on the coil having removed it and values are in order. I opened the distributor and all seems fine as well as the rotor. I then checked spark at plugs (at least nr.4 due to easy access and having grounded the plug, can see the spark - albeit it is orange in color -- is this O.K? Plugs are new) I had initially 'messed' with the lean / rich mixture control on the fuel distributor thinking it will solve the issue, and at this stage I might have gone a few turns either way !!
One more observation, my fuel pumps have always started to run upon the key being turned to on (at the stage before the engine turns)
Car has an alarm system (clifford 500) by the way, I have valet code but no manual from previous owner.. just in case this is what might be of issue- do not know how to completly turn off.
Where do I start (again).... by the way this is the 'lemon' I spent £ 8000 +in the UK back in 2008 prior to shipping it out to Australia, thinking I will finally enjoy my dream car -- NO SUCH LUCK, hopefully I will someday get the darned thing running before I finally 'kick the bucket'
Apologies for the long post!
Please suggest anything...

Thanks Rob,
Will do, if I can find the darned thing, this is a 930 ('86) body with a 964 engine, I know looking at diagrams that the 964 had a box in the luggage compartment with one of these, mine does not (apart from the 'old style fuse box), I might try and look for the same in the engine bay?
Thanks a million..

Coil. The tip-off is the color of the spark. Spark color should be blue, if any other color, the car won't start (spark isn't hot enough). This has always worked for me, from go-karts to high-performance cars.

Have ordered a coil as well as DME relay,
The gas leaking from the pipes after cranking the engine bit: do I assume that as fuel was flowing through and not being 'ignited' this then free-flows through to the valves and into the exhaust or is my thinking wrong? If this is the case, will this potential serious issue 'go away' upon ignition, or should I be checking something else?
Thanks

Mine has the single coil and distributor, 1991 M30.69 engine 3.3 L
Any thoughts on the gas leak issue, as this will ensure that whatever I do, I must eliminate the 'leak' issue described above.
