If you did not own a 964 would you purchase one?

For me, my primary relationship is the 964. I've had affairs with 993's and 996's that were just that, affairs... I've come back to the 964 but thank god w/out selling it to realize just how good I had it. I love my car. I love the way it drives. I love the attention I get. Period.

I have had mine for over a year, and no regrets. I would not have done anything different. I even had a C2 for a couple months since getting my first 91 C4. To be honest, the C4 was just a nicer car.
I am not even kicking myself for not getting an SC or 3.2 Carrera, which is what I was looking at when happened to stumble accross the 964 I did end up buying.
It was only afterwards I though about a 993, just seems like a whole lot more money for not a great deal more car.
And every day I drive my 964, which I do almost every day, there isn't many if any cars on the road that I pass that I would rather have.

I started with a want for an early Porsche (60's or earlier, but what I really wanted a speedster but alas I didn't have 100,000) I looked for quite a while as I aquired education on these vehicles. I changed my mind to a g50 80's specimen for a more "daily driver" vehicle when I came to find my 1992 964. My jaw dropped when I looked at this car for the first time and it still does each time I see it. I am so glad I found the 964 with its' classic upright headlamps and nose profile; I would certainly purchase one again if I had the opportunity. Please, please, please spend the money to get it checked out before you buy (PPI) to thwart any possible exspenses.
p.s. the 20 year old 964 is so much faster than my best friends brand new Z4 its embarrassing

i love my 964 targa, won't sell it ever. Its so nice and good, very rewarding. Holidays around europe in the Alps or the cote d'azur, briljant. But its a targa, i like to drive it 95% open. But also like to go sometimes fast on a german road or a track, that's were my carrera 3.2 coupe comes in to place. So both are briljant, but for different purposes.

Well stated benefits on the 964. I researched and drove a few Porsche before I gravitated to my Porsche 964 six years ago......and still appreciate the many benefits. It is the last of the classic 911 look. It has a few basic luxuries such as power windows, brakes and great suspension. And did I mention the great G50 trans with a smooth hydraulic clutch. I purchased my 964 to learn all about the great German engineering. I even rebuilt my engine with fantastic help from Club members and enthusiests on this website.
The 964 has the power to excite the handling experience that does not disappoint and not covered over with too much luxery as some of the newer models.
I have seen where Porsche owners sold their 964s or 993s for a newer model only to be disapointed for they do not get the respect, attention or the older and true feel of the road to start looking to repurchase one of last air cooled classics. Many sports cars are measured against the classic bench mark of the 964s.
The interest trend is shifting back to the 964s and their values are slowly increasing again.
Six years and I still get excied every time I get a chance to enjoy the true Porsche experience.....in a 964.
Best regards my friends
