Default Clutch master cylinder install help

In replacing the clutch master cylinder is the supply line's connection (pointed to in red, below) supposed to be reused?
(Replacement master cylinders are sold with these holes empty; no pieces provided.)

Or, as a 'soft' push-in/pull-out adapter piece, will it have taken a set from 20 years duty, and reused just become a future frustrating seepage leak?

(The other line - the pressure line - doesn't look to be a problem as it's all metal.

Thanks in advance for any experience you might provide on this!

Yup! That plastic bit on the end of the blue hose is a push-fit into the master. The end kinda has a flared ridge in it, which slots into a groove in the rubber grommet in the master

Just gently wiggle the old one out, but be prepared for a bit of a mess (even if you clamp the hose). It didn't seem to be stuck or anything and came out quite easily.

I reused mine...seems to be ok

Cool.

I hadn't thought of pinching off that blue line to prevent a gusher...
(...though I did remember to empty the reservoir.)
But now I will!

Thanks!

heh - my replacement cylinder has the same "993" signage as yours.

Even with the reservior sucked dry, there's still quite a lot in the line! ....and it's quite difficult to mop up the spilt fluid from under the pedals...don't ask me how I know

I won't waste your hard-won lesson -- no, sir.

1) put a bunch of rags under & around old master cyl.
2) pinch off blue line.
3) pull out lines from old cylinder.
4) deal with leakage.
5) take out old cylinder.
6) install new cylinder.
7) plug in supply & pressure lines.

8) toast an aussie.

Also...if you haven't already got one of those Motive pressure bleeder things, you should get one. Other methods tend to end in frustration and bubbles

I used a similar procedure to that recommended and I also reused the plastic elbow. No problems so far (I think since the rubber grommet in the new MC is fresh, it makes a good seal).

Cheers!
