not quite sure what the problem is, he admits himself that the car was in a minor accident. body paintwork tends to lower the price. Based on what I've seen, the price is fair, if maybe a thousand low. I simply don't see $28k for the car.

Nope, you see oil leaks and body repair. And he's asking $23,500, not $28K, FYI.

I'm sure the seller must be happy to have had you chime in here

Well, do you think the typical buyer won't see the leak or body repair? Its not like a quick search on rennlist wouldn't turn this up anyway. Not to mention the OP has freely admitted to it anyway, so its not like some secret.

I know what he's asking, but others said the price could be low by as much as $5k, which I don't think is accurate.

I don't think the OP will care as he has posted his entire ownership experience on this forum, including the leak, the body damages, etc.

So Moffman, why the sale of such a pretty car? And what will you replace it with?

As I've said before, insanity but no really I just want something to tinker on and toss around. I'm thinking maybe a TR6 or a spitfire (I love how much room you have to work on the car with the hood up) at the moment. I certainly will miss this car. You'll be happy to know the car is about to get a PPI.

there is plenty of room in the engine bay on a 964, once you take half of it apart and out

And you've owned either a TR6 or Spitfire before? If not, go search "clutch job"........................... I could see moving back to an older German (even Japanese or American) "tinkerable" car. But British? It's been nearly 30 years and I've still broken out into a sweat with bad memories of what was brought into the shop I worked at back then.

Thanks,

Gotta go with Ken on the Triumph advice. I have owned a Spitfire, TR6 and GT6. Fun cars to drive when sorted, but the electrical systems will drive you to drink and the handling will leave you wanting compared to a Porsche.

I traded my last TR6 for a 1968 912 and have been very pleasently surprised with the car. Early 911 SWB looks, pretty nimble even on skinny tires and easy to work on. Might be worth a look.

Good luck with your search and let us know what you decide on.

P.S. Whatever you do, don't change that avatar.

The worst car I ever owned was a '74 Spitfire (purchased new). Multiple clutch/throwout bearing failures, multiple rear suspension u-joint failures, electrical fire under the dash, and in need of a valve job after four trouble-plagued years of ownership. My happiest day of Spitfire ownership was the day I traded it in on a 280Z.
