All is not lost yet, if possible could one of you show me a picture of the differences? If I can convince the manufacturer there's enough of a market on the earlier type rears then we may be back in business.

Can later rears not be adapted to the earlier cars?

Simplest explanation of the change I can find is this

In MY1991, Porsche modified the upper mount by 22mm, changed the outer tube length of the shock, the rear spring, the protective gator and bump stop, and the strut mount bolt pattern
