Spoiler air dam, etc.

Spoiler air dam, etc.
While I was in the back today putting in the new "cup" airbox and the license plate holder, I decided to took at my spoiler since it's been making a racket when it tucks away at a stop.
The air dam has separated from the spoiler and the plastic notch on the right side is broken so it won't stay in line on the right. The wing operates fine, but the air dam is basically useless. Problem is, I just put that thing in. I bought it new from Pelican no more than 2 years ago (owned the car since October '08.) Are they supposed to be replaced every 2 years? Would Pelican replace that? Anyone running without the air dam?
Also noticed several decent sized scuffs on the left side of the engine lid. They weren't there last time I washed it a couple of weeks ago. Looks like someone sat/leaned on it and slid off. I tried to wipe them off with an old shirt, but they're not coming off. In fact, the shirt had some red paint on it when done. Can I buff this out without ruining the paint? Depends on the scuff I guess.
On a different note, I got the "cup" airbox cover installed with a new filter. Louder for sure than my drilled airbox cover. Felt more responsive at about the 3K rev range, but it could just be wishful thinking.

when you say air dam, are you refering to the spoiler wall? If so, just clean it and tape it back together with some duct tape. I did mine about 4 years ago and it's still holding together ok!!

you can always buff paint; it just depends on how much you have to "fix". Always start light, with a light abrasive compound. You may have to go a little more abrasive, but make sure you work the whole area, including the surrounding area. Avoid staying in one spot!!!!!

You probably don't want to run w/o the wall. It channels air into the engine compartment for a reason - air cooling. If you leave the wall off, there will be far less air channeled into the engine bay - not a great idea at higher speeds...

I just found this issue a few weeks back when I removed my spoiler for a repaint of the slats. My plastic wall notch was also busted on the left side and the top part of the plastic sheeting was completely ripped from the lower two halves. So I have a big gap uptop on my air wall. I figured It would get enough air flow despite not having it in place. I haven't seen a rise in engine temps yet either.
