Default 1)AC blower and 2) trunk release problem

My AC blower does not come on at all, zero action at 0,1,2 & 3 settings, nothing at all. #1 fuse 25 amp and still good. AC compressor switch activates fine you can hear it click in the back, re-circ switch and window defrost switch all light up. So where else should i check ? (edit: i will look at the 30 amp rear blower fuse)

My trunk release, the clamp or tube for the cable sleeve has broken off. So if I unbolt the cover and carpet, i can grip the cable sleeve with pliers and activate the trunk release.

Thanks !
Reza

Yes for your cabin blower issue, check the rear blower fan operation (the one in the engine bay).

With the ignition on, turn the temperature dial to hot. You should hear the rear blower fan crank noisily to life. If it doesn't, then that's the problem. The system has a fail-safe in that if the rear blower is not working, then the cabin fans shut down. Fuse for the rear blower is the 30A one in the small fusebox in the engine bay. The relay for it is in there too (it's the second one closest to the firewall side).

Also, I think there is an emergency trunk release in the fender well in some models too.

i can still open the trunk by dismantling the release lever and manually holding the cable sleeve with pliers. but that isn't a long term solution ; )

Is the rear fan blower coming on?

If so, there is a gizmo screwed to the front firewall called the final-stage-amplifier. When I was diagnosing my cabin blower problems (which were traced to the rear blower not working) I do remember some posts saying that if the fan speed **** does nothing, then it could be this amplifier thing.

Yes you are on the right lines. If the cabin fans work only on the blue dot (at all speeds) but they go off when any heat is selected, the rear blower is at fault (usually the 30 amp fuse). If the cabin fans don't work at all (and they're not broke or fuse 1 in the trunk hasn't blown) then it's usually a bad final stage amplifier (under the front plastic cover in the trunk).
